Described as one of the most beautiful & unique sculpture parks in the United Kingdom, Sculpture by the Lakes marries the soft beauty of nature's wild river landscape with the more formal presentation of monumental outdoor sculpture. It is that combination of art and landscape that inspires Sculpture by the Lakes.
So so Tranquil.easy to find on Sat Nav.some beautifully thought out by some very friendly and approachable staff.going to go again as soon as.Alot of thought and sensitivity about and how each sculpture is placed.i highly recommend this venue for sculpture newbies.

Thorngrove Garden Centre is a traditional garden centre in the heart of Gillingham for over 50 years. As well as a fantastic selection of home grown plants, pots and large gardening selection we also have The Secret Garden Cafe (now open) for the best homemade coffee and cakes, our Garden Shop providing garden accessories and gifts, as well as several glass houses and nurseries.
We had the pleasure of visiting this little jewel of a place a few days ago, and what a find!! Its a proper garden centre, not a tourist attraction, where the emphasis is definitely on plants and all things green. They do have a well stocked shop but there again the emphasis is on plants and their associated needs, rather than unrelated gifts and nick-nacks. There is also a very pleasant little café cum coffee shop which serves brunches, light lunches, cream teas and such like at very reasonable prices. They also promote the employment of people with learning difficulties and special needs which for me is a big feather in their caps. The staff are warm and friendly and the public are welcome to wander about, even in the greenhouses. The place is a little bit of a work-in-progress with several changes afoot in the next 12 - 18 months, but they are very much open for business and when the proposed changes come to fruition it has all the hallmarks of being a first rate place to go for all your gardening needs. Its there already compared to other centres we've visited. We will be going back again, even though its a half hour drive away from where we live. I do feel quite envious of the good people of Gillingham to have such a place on their doorstep.

Athelhampton House is one of England's finest Tudor Manor Houses. Dating from 1485, the Great Hall is a fine example of domestic Tudor architecture, the house has many interesting rooms, filled with antique furnishings and art. The Gardens remodelled in 1891 surround the House, with many 'compartments' built with Ham stone, each with a different style or theme, each with a water feature of a pond or fountain. The Great Court features the 12 world famous giant yew tree pyramids. The House and Gardens are protected by a Grade 1 listing, and are well maintained to protect for future generations. An excellent visitor centre with restaurant, tea room, gift shop and plant sales area complete the attraction. Enjoy a great Lunch or afternoon tea. See our website for special offers.
We had a fantastic day out at Athelhampton House & Gardens. The house was a complete joy to explore and still retains a lived in feel with masses of history. The visit was very relaxed, we were able to come and go as we pleased , breaking off for a superb lunch in the restaurant before returning to the house. The gardens were beautiful, a delight to explore with plenty of places to sit and rest or take in the views. All staff were very friendly and welcoming and knowledgeable about the property and it’s history. Little touches such as being able to borrow a guide book while touring the house and gardens and being invited to sit on the chairs while exploring the house were exceptional. Returning to the restaurant for superb tea and cake rounded off a perfect day. Would happily revisit when next in the area.

Sherborne Castle & Gardens is a wonderful day out. Visit our historic castle and walk through 400 years of history, explore 42 acres of “capability” Brown landscape gardens and take time to enjoy a delicious cream tea in our tea room. Why not browse in the gift shop & pick up a bottle of our very own Sherborne Castle Wine to take home to drink with your supper!
We visited this amazing castle that was built for Sir Walter Raleigh, what a treat beautiful castle and gardens by Capability Brown. Lots of history here and great views over the gardens and old castle. Very much enjoyed our day!

For up to date visitor information, including opening days and times, please see our website. Mapperton is a glorious sandstone manor house and romantic valley garden deep in a lost Dorset combe among tumbling hills and unspoiled countryside. Fifteen acres of gardens descend from the croquet lawn, through the formal topiary down to the wild garden. Mapperton is the home of the Earl and Countess of Sandwich. Mapperton successfully obtained VisitEngland ‘We’re Good To Go’ COVID-19 certification and carried out a full COVID-19 risk assessment before implementing current safety procedures.
Visited Mapperton House & Gardens for an early Oct. weekend get away from London with friends. Thoroughly enjoyed staying in the beautifully renovated Garden Cottage adjoining the stunning 500 year old Manor. Exquisite countryside views greeted from every window of this tastefully redecorated property. Aside from glorious walks, and friendly staff – the well fitted cottage kitchen, lovely linens, delicious café dishes, and excellent wi-fi across the grounds helped make our stay relaxing. Would highly recommend this for idyllic countryside rest & relaxation, and the Coach House seems perfect for hosting big group anniversaries, weddings or special birthdays. Whilst there is no formal playground, children are clearly welcome and mine would be very happy to spend time here ambling the vast garden corridors, and training for the cross country season.

We've not been for some 20-odd years and apard from the new entrance and cafe, nothing has changed. The gardens are absolutely wonderful - the formality of the Italian gardens; the jungle woodland gardens full of cameila and rhododendrons, and the flowing Japanese garden with stunning photogenic views. We arrived for lunch and had a stupendous ham, egg and chips - huge amounts of off-the-bone wonderful ham! Then our walk around the gardens before revisiting the cafe for tea and cake. Then back into the garden for a second walk around before finally ending up at the plant centre and buying a lovely Pittosporum tobira 'Variegata' with the most wonderful scent! We'll be back!

Voted the Historic Houses Association /Christie's Garden of the Year 2012. Acclaimed by Alan Titchmarsh as "one of the finest Gardens I have ever visited." Regularly featured on TV, most recently for a BBC Gardeners' World feature on camellias, with the excellent Carol Klein and expert Jennifer Trehane, and in James Wong's outstanding episode of the BBC's Great British Garden Revival series, on tropical gardens. Upper, Central and Lower Gardens have all been Green Flag winners since 1999 and run from Bournemouth pier to the boundary with Poole. The gardens are 3 kilometres long. They are all part of the Bourne Valley Greenway and are Listed Grade II in the English Heritage Register of Parks and Gardens. There are lots of activities and events taking place, or you can simply enjoy the scenery. Find out more about the history of the gardens here. The Lower Gardens This section of the gardens is quite short, it runs from the pier to the town centre, but there is always lots going on. Year-round attractions include Classic mini golf, a bandstand, refreshment kiosks and Street food corner site, an aviary, and art exhibition. Seasonal events in this section of the gardens attract thousands of visitors. In 2018 the gardens became the main setting for the Christmas Tree Wonderland.
Wonderful beach fine sand and blue sea, gorgeous beach huts. Memories from my childhood and it’s exactly the same, clean and everywhere well kept, lower and upper gardens right near beach, the band stand and crazy golf a great childhood memory from over 50 years ago. Great it’s all still there. Park lovely and wonderfully well kept gardens. There’s usually someone playing guitar and singing in the park which is great Well worth a visit

I read an article about this garden in the RHS magasine this Autumn (Fall). The photographs were beautiful so I decided to visit with my husband. This is a really romantic garden at any time of year but we enjoyed the golden light of a November day and took masses of photographs ourselves.
