Yarns Artwork in Silk is a unique 3D textile art installation consisting of 4 very large handworked silk panels decipting local events and vistas in a seasonal diaroma. Viewed in an auditorium accompanied by an audio visual narration. Crafted by over 300 artists using silk dying & painting, hand & machine embroidery, quilting, patchwork and many more techniques.
Such a wonderful surprise when we were passing through Deloraine this week we felt intrigued about the Artworks in Silk. We found them at the Visitor Information Centre and what an amazing treat it was - to be seated in a very comfortable theatre and have them explained to us first, then we could go down and look at the intricate workmanship up close! The story of how many workers in silk came together to create these exquisite panels was inspiring. Then, on the encouragement of Cara and Vicky, we went out to see the Museum of heritage buildings, machinery, homes and every day life of our early settlers. It was an excellent display and so 'full of life', one that all Tasmanian and Australian children should visit at some time for they will come away with a deeper understanding of times past. Our thanks go to the warmly welcoming (and knowledgable) twosome Cara and Vicky!

I wandered into this enchanting store when I was looking for a bank... the items are so whimsical and beguiling ... it is a store you can lose yourself in exploring it's wares. I am not sure what I was expecting when I wandered in initially but I know it surpassed anything that I was thinking. Everything about the store is interesting... including it's owner. She was the perfect shopkeeper... willing to share a story... humble about some of her art on the walls of the business... helpful... dare I say she was graceful. The items on sale in the store are incredible... she does stock all things 'brush'... I was surprised what you can purchase brushes for. And while they fascinated me, I only left with a local relish ( she assures me it's the best she has ever had) and a handful of her amazing range of greeting cards.

A centre for creating and exhibiting local art and design, staffed by volunteers and resident artisans, open 7 days a week from 10am to 4pm.
Lovely selection of Tasmanian made products and opportunities to meet the makers. I was in an out in less than 20 minutes but still managed to find some lovely things to treasure.

Redefining Food Experience! Come and taste our freeze dried products, factory tasting and sales from 9.00am - 4.00pm Monday to Friday.
Small shop attached to their factory, part of the tasting trail. The lady was very friendly and informative. We were able to try a large variety of their products. The freeze dried cheese was amazing, and we bought 2 pkts. We also bought their black currant apples and a dried raspberry powder which you can add to natural yoghurt. I thought all their prices were very reasonable and would definitely recommend a visit
