We attended the light show at Musser's again this year and it did NOT disappoint. This year was a Disney theme. Not only did they have all the lights and tree, but they also had a big screen up. The screen was showing clips from various Disney movies while corresponding songs played and color themed lights danced. Some of the characters/movies included in the show were Aladdin, Cinderella, Moana, Rapunzel, Toy Story, Monsters Inc., Zootopia, Jungle book, Princess & the Frog (Tiana), Lion King, Ralph Breaks the Internet, Inside Out, The Little Mermaid (Ariel), Mulan, Sleeping Beauty, Pirates of the Caribbean, Hercules, Frozen, Nemo and Merida. The show starts every half hour and you tune your car radio to the designated station to hear the music as you watch the light show. Show lasts about 15 minutes. Overall, we really the light show. It was really pretty and we loved the theme this year. It wasn't really "Christmassy" but it was a nice show.

We enjoyed our visit here last year and decided to make it a point to go back again this holiday season. Smith's Family Christmas Lights did NOT disappoint. This is a walk-through holiday light display. It is free, but they have a donation box should you wish to make a donation. This year they had lots of inflatables, tons of lights, some overhead music, a nativity scene, a lighted choir of angels and MORE. My favorite part is walking through the lighted tunnels. Only thing that could make this better would be an overhead snow machine to increase the holiday spirit even more. You will see several of your favorite characters throughout the display including Mickey, Frosty, Garfield, Big Bird, Cookie Monster, Nemo, Woody (Toy Story), the Grinch & max, Rudolph, Pluto, the Bumble, Cinderella's Coach, Woodstock and MORE. You will also see other winter animals such as penguins, deer, and polar bears. Santa, toy soldiers, elves and snowmen can also be seen. There are even flying pigs and some farm animals such as a frog, cow and duck. We also saw a cardinal, ballerina and much much MORE. Overall, we really enjoyed our time at Smith's Christmas Lights. I would recommend and we will be back next year. Note: The display is so large that you can even spot it from I-95!!

Stopped at Apple Electric again this season to take in their holiday light show. We simply pulled up along the road, pulled to the side, tuned our radio into the corresponding radio station and enjoyed the show. The lights on the home and trees danced to the holiday music as we watched from the comfort of our own car. Beside the building, they also had a couple of wooden sets that you could take your photo in: Rudolph scene and a Frozen themed scene. There was also a wooden Grinch along side the highway. It had a spot light on it, so it made taking photos with him pretty easy even at night. At the side of the property, they have a driveway that leads back to a gingerbread house with gingerbread people. In front of the building, the had a nativity scene and Peanut characters. Santa, his sleigh and reindeer could be found on the roof! At the edge of the driveway, they had a row of toy soldiers (one was even wearing a mask) wishing everyone a Merry Christmas. Overall, we enjoyed our visit with Apple Electric's holiday light show. We probably spent 15 minutes here total watching the show and taking some photos with the wooden Frozen characters. You can spend as little or as much time here watching the lights dance to the holiday classics! I would highly recommend if you are in the area between Thanksgiving and Christmas. It is a nice, safe, socially-distanced holiday event that you can enjoy from the comfort of your own car. Note: It is also a Toys for Tots drop location should you wish to donate a toy or bike.

This four-day music festival in Delaware has been featuring big-name and emerging live acts since 2012. Over 100 bands perform throughout the event across seven different stages. The lineup features every type of music from alternative rock to EDM, attracting a wide range of fans. Held at Dover International Speedway, the expansive grounds include restaurants, bars, a market and even campsites, where attendees can pitch a tent to get the full festival experience.

This year we decided to stop at Winter Wonderfest on our way home from the Delaware Beaches. It was a drizzly night, so we figured some of the activities would be closed, but knew that the drive-thru Light Spectacular display and the Schelleville Christmas Village would still be open. We got to the light display around 7:40pm. We paid admission for our car and drove the gravel path around the fields. Here they had big light up displays set up and even little light tunnels that you could drive through. We took our time driving through and looking at each display. It took maybe 20 minutes to drive through. It could be done faster, but we were not in a hurry & there really was no line or traffic to deal with. Our admission to the Light Spectacular included parking and admission to Schelleville. So, we pulled around the Christmas Tree lot and parked in front of Schelleville. Here were were excited to enter this miniature Christmas village! We walked up and through the gates to Schelleville. Once inside I was amazed! I felt like I had just stepped into a Hallmark movie. There were little houses (think about the size of large sheds) set up all around the outside of the Visit Delaware Ice Rink. The minaure buildings were designed on the outside to resemble victorian homes, a fire station, Town Hall, movie theater, Zwaanendael Museum, ice cream parlor, diner, radio station, market, B&B, bookstore, Mrs. Claus' Mansion and MORE. Each little building was decorated INSIDE and OUT! The attention to detail was amazing. Kids could walk inside the little buildings. In each building there was something different to play with whether it be a DJ booth, ice cream cones, cooking supplies (Diner), books, toys, etc. Some of the little homes even had a second floor. The movie theater was actually playing A Christmas Story. So, a few people could go inside and watch the movie! Around the outide of the buildings, the attention to detail continued. The walkways were bricked, lined with decorations and things to see. There was a kids fire truck to play on and a huge Santa sleigh for photos. By the Frosty B& B there was even snow machines blowing snow all about. It was so magical! In the center of the village was an actual ice skating rink. It was closed due to the rain but it was beautiful & looked like it would be fun. Beside the ice rink and in front of the Schelleville Express there was a nice lounge area for guests to sit round a fire. To the rear of Schelleville were heated restrooms and a heated tent. Here you could purchase hot food and beverages, including alcoholic beverages. There was a small stage set up inside so it appears that some nights they have live entertainment. According to the signs there they also had kids crafts and Santa visits, but neither were taking place while we were there. All the way to the back of the village, we found the carnival area. Here they had some amusements (rides and games) set up. However, the midway was closed due to the rain. We also saw a Snow Zone that appeared to have huge building blocks for the kids to play with and the Schelleville Express complete with an amazing train station. It was really pretty. Unfortunately both of these activities were also closed due to rain as well. The train really looked like it would be fun for the little ones. Overall, we had a wonderful experience with Winter Wonderfest. Despite the rain and several of the activities being closed, we still had a great time. The Schelleville Village alone was worth the visit. Our kids had SO much fun playing in the little houses. They didn't want to leave! We finally left around 9pm, which appeared to be closing time. We spent a total of about 1.5 hours here and we definitely could have spent more time, especially IF it weren't for closures due to rain. I feel like this was my favorite holiday experience ALL season. I would HIGHLY recommend and can't wait til next season!

The Town of Bethany Beach, known as the “Quiet Resort,” holds the annual Bethany Beach Jazz Funeral on its Boardwalk. On Labor Day Monday at 5:30 p.m. spectators join a "fun" funeral procession of mourners, along with three Dixieland Jazz Bands to carry a casket with a mannequin representing “Summer of 2019” to say Goodbye to the Summer Season. Charity event based on Jazz Funerals in New Orleans.
