Jan Kilburn Watercolor Studio and Gallery

Reviewed By NChoagie

Jan Kilburn's prints are sold widely in the area and on Monhegan. We had seen and like them so decided to stop by her studio on the way to Pemaquid lighthouse. She was there--very nice and welcoming and we enjoyed seeing both her original watercolors and prints. Of course, we had to buy some!

Skidompha Secondhand Book Shop

Reviewed By JudithD254

Skidompha Books is well-known among locals for its huge variety of recent fiction and nonfiction, including occasional first-edition and rare books (I found a first edition of Edna St. Vincent Millay lyrics, which I'll donate to our college library). But best of all, comfortable chairs are scattered through the store's many rooms -- several of which form a long, bay-windowed gallery overlooking the tree-lined Damariscotta River on its way to the active harbor nearby. A great spot to spend an hour or two, rainy day or not.

Wow! If you’re looking for an amazing oil paint class Will is your man! Our family of 5 (80years old down to 16 year old) loved this class! We dabble in “paint and sip events”, so it was amazing to get real life lessons and walk out w a painting of the lighthouse that we love! Will has so much talent painting AND instructing!! He was so calm and amazing at helping each of us. Highly recommend him!!! He was so accommodating and even allowed us to change days and add another painter last minute. We learned a lot from grids on the canvas to mixing oils. He was great and his studio holds gorgeous pieces for sale! We rank him 6 starts******!

Maine Coast Book Shop and Cafe

Reviewed By portsmouthliz - Washington DC, United States

During our week in Daramiscotta, we shopped here several times and got coffee from the cafe every day. I shop in indie bookstores during my work travels throughout the country and this is probably the best small-town bookstore I've ever seen. It has a wide selection of literature, history, science, etc etc -- more than just best-sellers, but lots of those too if that's what you're looking for. There's a really good local section if you need guidebooks. Also lots of gifts, toys, games, puzzles, art supplies. The coffee in the cafe is really good and they even have some gluten-free baked goods.
