Crete (Greek: Κρήτη, Kríti ['kriti]; Ancient Greek: Κρήτη, Krḗtē) is the largest and most populous of the Greek islands, the 88th largest island in the world and the fifth largest island in the Mediterranean Sea, after Sicily, Sardinia, Cyprus, and Corsica. Crete and a number of surrounding islands and islets constitute the region of Crete (Greek: Περιφέρεια Κρήτης), one of the 13 top-level administrative units of Greece. The capital and the largest city is Heraklion. As of 2011, the region had a population of 623,065.

This tour was one of the highlights of my trip to Crete last month. The tour guide Joanna has an obivious indepth knowledge of the history of Crete and the Minoan period. She not only brought Knossos to life with vivid clarity, (the art, the way of life) but could answer all our questions regarding the period. She made the tour both entertaining and educational. I would not hesitate to recommed Joanna as a tour quide and look forward to going on another tour with her when next I visit Crete.

This unique tour combines exploring the Cretan nature, the most spectacular gorge close to Chania and the villages surrounding it, followed by lunch in perhaps one of the best bio restaurants in Crete! We will drive through spectacular natural scenery, inside the gorge leading to the foot of the White Mountains, where the restaurant is located. All food in the small family restaurant is produced, handmade and cooked in wood oven, from bread to the local Cretan and Greek recipes! If you wish, we could walk around the farm and area, depending on the season and weather. It's not only a nature experience through a gorge but also a cultural one, as we will visit two small Byzantine churches and the lunch at the end is an experience by itself. On the way back we drive by the side of mountain over Chania with panoramic view of the town and Souda port!
Inclusions: Air-conditioned vehicle, Private transportation, Guiding Services
Exclusions: 20 euro for lunch in the mountain restaurant
I enjoyed my talk very much. My guide was easy to talk to and happy to answer any questions I had about Greece. he even went to the trouble of getting me some grapes from the vine and figs from the trees, and they proved to be delicious!

Samaria gorge is a National Park with unique flora and fauna, in the heart of the Lefka Ori mountains. It is by far the best hike in Crete, and probably one of the best in Europe. It is listed as a protected UNESCO Biosphere reserve. Samaria gorge is a 16km downhill hike between mountains and a forest, with a river flowing and organized resting places! For an average hiker it takes 6 hours to cross it and there is no food or any other shop available inside. The tour starts early in the morning to take advantage of the shadow in the gorge until noon, but by which time most visitors have already reached the sea! At the end of the hike we rest at Agia Roumeli, a village with few restaurants and beach, before returning by boat to Sougia, and then by bus and car to Chania. It's necessary to wear at least good sports shoes, take a hat and sunscreen. There is plenty of drinkable water inside. The hike is breathtaking, ideal for nature lovers and wildlife watchers.
Inclusions: Air-conditioned vehicle, Private transportation, Guiding Services to cross Samaria Gorge
Exclusions: There are no shops or food inside the gorge, drink water from fountains. Please bring light snacks with you., 20 euro for a meal in a local restaurant at end of Samaria gorge, Agia Roumeli village., 5 euro entry ticket to Samaria National Park , 10 euro boat ticket Agia Roumeli - Sougia, 60 euro group Taxi from Sougia to Samaria, where we left the car

Thanks to Akrivi we had a fantastic time visiting both the Heraklion Archaeological Museum and the Knossos palace. Akrivi waved together the history and mythology, explained in detail all aspects of Minoan civilization and made us to travel back in time, to learn and appreciate the achievements of Minoans, the first Mediterranean civilization. It is totally worth to book both tours together , otherwise you will be missing the complete picture.Especially if you are a small group/family you should not miss this tour; it is not just a tour it is time travel !

Our first stop will be to a picturesque "kafenio", to have a Greek coffee exactly as the locals do, with the traditional extra thin handmade cheese pie "sfakianopita" with thyme honey on top, the perfect way to begin your day. There is nobody, either Cretan or not, who is not going to visit the oldest "phyllo" workshop while in Rethymno and won't try his baklava! In the old town of Rethymno, a Venetian mansion houses the workshop of Mr Hatziparashos, the last traditional phyllo master, making traditional pastry. Just give it a try! Discover the narrow streets and stone-built old magnificent traditional houses in the alleys on our way to "mezedopolio''. One of the first of its kind in the city, learn how a local enjoys a homemade raki with the appropriate mezedes. Following stop, a stone-built bakery with the most crunchy, scrumptious loukoumades with honey, in the whole city! They will surely accompany you till the last stop at Fortezza castle as we will finish our gastronomic trip.
Inclusions: Snacks, Coffee and/or Tea, Bottled water, Raki, Breakfast
Exclusions: Ticket to the Fortezza, Extra charge if the pickup is not in Rethymno district
I took this trip with my mother on our visit to Crete and it really was a highlight. Our lovely guide Vincent was an excellent careful driver, and even though air con was an option we drove with the windows down so that we could smell the beautiful thyme/pine/herb-y mountain air of Crete. Margarites was wonderful, and Vincent was careful to make sure we arrived in between busloads of other tourists so we had the whole village to ourselves, and the demonstration was done in the best, most traditional pottery in town. We weren't keen on doing the whole gorge hike as we're not very athletic and wanted a chill day, so we stopped off at the Eleftherna museum in addition to everything else. The Arkadi Monastery was incredibly moving, and Vincent told us the history of the place before we went in, which made it all even more meaningful. He's a natural storyteller and makes everything so interesting and emotionally resonate - a really fantastic guide. Last, we did the gorge, including lunch in the most wonderful traditional taverna. You can also visit the little church in the gorge and, if you're spiritually minded, I recommend taking a little something as an offering - or, as we did, some change for the candles. The gorge was shady and full of streams, and we did a short hike that wasn't too taxing but did go fairly high up. I would thoroughly and wholeheartedly recommend taking this tour, and if we had had time to take more tours with this company we would do again. Being just us and the guide was a real luxury as well, as we could follow al our little whims and curiosities about the places we were in without having to rush. Eleven out of ten, what a great day!

I went together with my girlfriend to this place due to the nice reviews. The staff was very friendly with us but the experience was not nice. In the first room they have some 3D painting to take some pictures and they explain you a bit about what you see. The main attraction is the 9D cinema experience. The headphones were not very good and I could barely hear the voice. Most of the time I could only hear the compressed air for the special effects. At some point we could see double image and made us very dizzy. I am a tall person also and as the seat was moving I could touch the floor and it was a bit disappointing. The graphics were also a bit hilarious. Maybe for children this is a nice experience but for young/adult people it is not.

I was recently at the Knossos Palace and we had a small tour, but it was WONDERFUL. Our tour guide, Marina, gave a detailed and interesting tour complete with a positive outlook on an advanced culture. We paid 50 € for two people, and only had four total people on the tour. The other two people were friendly and we had a blast! I can’t thank our tour guide enough, and she made it unforgettable. It was a fun outlook on History. She told us she gave tours in English, Greek, Swedish, and German. I HIGHLY SUGGEST you do this. If you do, ask for Marina!
