Colclough Walled Garden

Beautiful gardens - only reopened following Covid 19 shutdown. Sadly no vegetables but the rest of the garden beautiful full of flowers and fruit. The walk from the car park was a little far for my mother, but she was willingly given a seat in the garden despite all the benches being closed off. After a lovely stroll around the garden. I was allowed drive back to garden to collect my mother as the walk around was enough for her poor knees. Friendly helpful staff- grateful they were so obliging.

Without a doubt if you do not have a good bar person then shut your doors. Jimmy take a bow you are a legend and you are what all bars in this mad pandemic need. Common sense, comply within the regulations, treat your customers with respect, because its as hard for them, as it is for staff. Then abuse them in that Irish way that makes us all smile. Well done great greeting, great pub, great company, great drink great food available if needed and more importantly open for business we will be back Brian Dublin Cahill. Dublin Airport.

Tacumshane Windmill

Designated a national monument in 1952, Tacumshane Windmill is the only surviving complete windmill of its kind in the Republic of Ireland. Built in 1846, it features a rare revolving straw thatch cap to catch the wind for its sails. Beautifully preserved and maintained, the key to have a peek inside is available from the adjacent Millhouse Bar & Restaurant.

Monageer Grotto

Reviewed By toddlermeetstheworld - Wexford, Ireland

This is an excellent place to go for an afteroon walk with young children. Especially if the weather is hot. There is a forrest path that is going slightly uphill. While walking, children can observe different types of trees and there are educational boards along the path with the names of common animals, trees, plants, etc. The colorful and educational crochet work is displayed all along the footpath as well. I believe this should be on itinerary of homeschooling parents passing through the county. There are a few picnic tables as well. Recommended time: 1hr

The Dark Hedges

Reviewed By 02corvette - Marietta, United States

The first time we came in 2011, it was a hard place to find but then again, Game of Thrones was not such a hit back then. Since then we come each time just to see how it has changed. Now there are a lot of people walking the road and unless you are a local, you are not suppossed to drive thru but some idiot will always think it applies to everyone else and not them. 2 cars drove thru and one almost hit some walkers. The trees were there when my dad, born in 1891 was a kid in Ballymoney and this was a long Sunday outing for them and the grounds of Grace HIll. We have seen of the 10 doors carved from the trees that were hit by a horrid storm in 2015 and they are a wonderful way to remember the old, old trees - 350 yrs + Be respectful of the history of if you go. Offer to take pictures of families and watch their faces light up.
