We only had very little time to spend in Limerick and I am so glad we found this gem of a museum close to the hotel we stayed (the Absolute). The collection is marvellous and fascinating, and the building itself is worth a visit. There is a nice gift shop with a range of interesting books and a very nice coffee shops with wonderful cakes! Don't miss it!!

Limerick Museum is now based in the Franciscan Friary, Henry Street. The Limerick Museum first opened its doors in 1916 at the Carnegie Building in Pery Square and relocated four times before finding its permanent home in Henry Street. The Limerick Museum holds in storage the largest local authority collection in the country. The display in Henry Street shows only a fraction of this collection to highlight the history of Limerick City and County for thousands of years. The museum is fully accessible to all and is free.
The Limerick Leader archive photos from the 1970s provided a great insight into life in Limerick at that time.

Visited this center as part of a college trip. This site is a hidden gem and full of rich heritage regarding the history of the family of President John F. Kennedy. Definitely worth a visit if in the vicinity of Co. Limerick. Very accommodating to visitors and if you are visiting outside opening hours, just ring ahead and they will try their best to accommodated you by opening. Thoroughly enjoyed the visit.

This visitor centre is located where Eamon de Valera grew up. Cottage he lived in is now preserved & school he attended is a museum dedicted to his memory
We are a new museum at No. 2 Pery Square. The People's Museum of Limerick aims to reflect the diverse lives of the people, buildings, and streets of the city. We showcase the eclectic and fascinating collection of items in the care of Limerick Civic Trust, as well as artefacts that are visiting us from elsewhere.
