We visited Castletown House for the first time recently and absolutely loved it! There are lovely grounds to walk through. Ideal for couples, or families with children to enjoy or to walk your dog. There is a market held on the last Sunday of the month selling everything from local arts and crafts to delicious food. We spent a full day there by the time we had seen the market, had coffee and cake and then had a lovely walk for an hour. The paths are very well laid out and you can see the house clearly so you can't get lost! After our walk we had lunch in the cafe and then did the tour of the house. Our guide was Deirdre and she had so much information to tell us about the history of the house and the family that lived there. It was a very enjoyable day and we would highly recommend a visit. It's a real gem just outside of Dublin.

Great little museum with a wealth of artefacts in the the Shackleton exhibition .It is so well laid out with and gives a great insight into both his exploits and personal life .Definitely a must see for anyone with an interest in Antarctic explorations . Also the audio visual introduction to The Grand canal,Gordon Bennett Race and WW1 gives a succinct account of these events in the community. The staff were very pleasant and helpful and is a little gem to visit .

The previous review is not accurate. Passing comments supposedly from a gift shop owner is untrue considering there's no gift shop in the vicinity. The military museum has been in existence for years and it was the Defence Forces who established it not any private individual. The staff are excellent.

Visited this gallery again last weekend and am always impressed. It is a small gallery located in a cottage on the grounds of Carton House which gives it a very welcoming and homely feel. The staff are extremely friendly and professional and the gallery showcases a huge selection of Irish paintings, sculptures, garden sculptures and prints. If you are an art lover this gallery has something for everyone and everyone’s budget and is a gallery that you must visit!
