Beautiful Church built before the famine. Really nice stained glass windows. Magnificent Rose window donated to this church also a recent modern stained glass window donated within the last 10 years. Wonderful celebration of Mass every Sunday by the local Fr.Larkin and wonderful choir by family of local musicians The Fennel Family. This is available on webcam.

I have visited many of the still functioning abbeys. Corcomroe Abbey, although in ruins , has retained that sense of separation from the world practiced by monks worldwide. The silence that surrounded the place as well as the silence within reminded me of the inner silence that is sought by those who enter Monasteries and Abbeys everywhere. I was fortunate to be there at a time when there was no one else around so the solitude and silence was profound. I found myself imagining myself as a monk in the 12th and 13th Centuries .. I was there on October 22, 2018 just a few days before the days of Halloween and All Saints... Could feel the Spirits of those so long departed.

My family and I had a private driver for the day. We planned on making a few stops at historic sites we were interested in seeing on our way to Galway. He encouraged that we also stop at Quin Abbey during our trip. This place was amazing!! There were no tourists crowding the area which allowed for perfect picture taking opportunities. I really enjoyed being able to explore the castle at my own pace. The site itself was beautiful and very well kept. This was definitely one of the best parts of my trip here in Ireland!!

In a small town and a hidden gem is located on a side street. The ruins of a church wall are standing. There are several 12th century crosses. The church was unable to survive after the Great Potato Famine.

Beautiful statue of St. Brigid, one of Ireland's greatest female saints who is thought to have lived in the sixth century and credited with founding the convent at Kildare.
A must see, a must visit, a must place to go if you are in Liscannor. make sure you take a candle to light and a bottle for some water!
