Cornwall is the extreme southwestern peninsula of England. It has the longest stretch of continuous coastline in Britain and it is one of the sunniest areas in the UK. With picturesque villages, Celtic ruins, light blue waters, gardens and parks and unique architecture it certainly is among the most scenic areas of England. Home of many events and festivals and the land of Cornish pasty, it is definitely worth visiting.

Been twice since, towards the end of 2018 and in 2019,there are good selection of car booters with great choices of bargains all depending on what you are looking or collecting if lucky you might find it,plenty for the younger age to find a gift or toys and then on to older folk who are looking for DIY tools, books, well worth a visit and a couple of hours plus looking for a bargain and a chat with stall holders and meeting up with friends and where we are all looking for that bargain that might be worth more than what you paid for it

With the help of a generous grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund, Trinity House renovated the Engine Room at Lizard Lighthouse, retaining some of the old engines. It now also features new exhibition material, an audio visual room and a number of interactive displays. The Lizard Lighthouse Heritage Centre was officially opened in 2009 by HRH The Princess Royal. The distinctive twin towers of Lizard Lighthouse mark the most southerly point of mainland Britain. See displays depicting Trinity House's history, housed in the original engine room. It was commissioned in 1752. For over 250 years, the lighthouse has provided a welcoming landfall light to vessels crossing the Atlantic Ocean. Tours of Lizard Lighthouse are organised under licence from the Corporation of Trinity House.
We decided to visit the lizard lighthouse and what a fantastic day out it was. The exhibition hall was great with plenty to do and to read. And plenty of games and fun for children. We done the guided tour of the lighthouse tower with Caroline who has been a lighthouse keeper at the station since 2007 she could answer any questions I had and more everything about the tour was in-depth and well explained. Definitely worth a visit. Cheap day out and loads to do.

Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens’ dramatic landscape, combined with large-scale exotic, sub-tropical planting, provides the backdrop to contemplative and inspiring art by internationally renowned artists. A major attraction near Penzance in West Cornwall, Tremenheere can be found in a beautiful sheltered valley, overlooking St Michael’s Mount, with woods and a stream, interwoven with an evolving programme of contemporary artwork. The creations of artists such as James Turrell, David Nash, Richard Long, Tim Shaw and Peter Randall-Page interact with the setting to create site-specific permanent work, which harmonises with the landscape. Within this breath-taking location, Tremenheere hosts its sculpture garden, gallery, shop, nursery and restaurant.
A beautiful and very well-kept garden. It has many beautiful pieces of art and is both enjoyable for families, singles and couples alike. Apart from the beautiful plants and the great view of Mounts Bay, it is also a must to visit the very high-quality restaurant that is part of the garden which serves great food and really makes for a great ending after visiting the garden.

The Penwith Gallery is the home of the Penwith Society of Arts in Cornwall. The gallery, formerly a pilchard packing factory, has a remarkable complex of buildings, including three public galleries, sculpture area and archive. This allows for a varied and interesting series of changing exhibitions throughout the year. The society was founded in 1949 by Barbara Hepworth, Ben Nicholson, Peter Lanyon, Bernard Leach, Sven Berlin and Wilhelmina Barns– Graham, amongst others. Later members have included Patrick Heron, Terry Frost and Henry Moore (honorary member). This association with so many progressive and influential artists has given the Penwith Society a unique place in British art history. Today the society continues to play a central role in the thriving and vibrant St. Ives art community, exhibiting contemporary art from Cornwall and beyond.
We had a great visit to the Penwith Gallery on a blustery morning. It is free and had work from a great variety of contemporary artists including those who work in and around the town snd who work in many media and styles. The sheer breadth of the work displayed was great to see and we found much to admire and ponder on. Even a couple of Wilhelmina Barns-Graham, one of which was for sale. Some lovely wintery scenes, some abtract and much to enjoy. Well worth a visit.
