We went to both the store in Cooperstown and the factory in Hartwick. Both experiences were enjoyable and made more so by our tour guide, Kyle, at the bat factory and our salesman, Kyle 2.0 (LOL), in the town. We really enjoyed seeing the bats be made one at a time. The programmable lathe was interesting but even more interesting was Kyle's ability to take the bat from the lathe and finish it for painting with practiced pro moves in a just a few seconds. He walked us through the process and answered our many questions with great interpersonal skills and a wonderful sense of humor. There are no 'set' tour times ... just show up but avoid lunch hour.

I purchased some excellent-quality items: wool hat and scarf made from hand-spun yarn from her own sheep, soap and lotion, beautiful Christmas ornaments, hand-blown glass. This little shop is full of cool stuff.

We come up for the Glimmerglass Festival every year and stop by the Cooperstown Farmers' Market Saturday morning. We are fortunate to have a small refrigerator in our hotel room to store the wonderful, inexpensive (compared to where I live) produce we purchase at the market. Gorgeous beets ($2/bunch), huge heads of cauliflower ($3), heirloom tomatoes, lettuce mixes, etc. Always an extensive selection of vendors and products. Lots of delicious jams and preserves to bring home as gifts. Bring a big market bag to bring home all your delicious finds. The market is open Saturdays and Tuesdays. Easy to find right off Main Street.
