The historic quarter of Colonia del Sacramento, founded in 1680, evokes old Lisbon with its Portuguese-influenced architecture and winding streets. We really enjoyed this virtual live experience all together. And even-though we decided to "only" watch, due to the time difference (after dinner for us), we had a great time learning more about how to properly cook Empanadas. Thanks again to Camila for making it very interesting, "tasteful"and fun and giving us the chance to discover the world of Empanadas and also sharing insights about Argentina with us.

The tour was very good and picked us up at our hotel. We then listened to our guide who explained the itinerary and a bit of history. Our first stop was Piriapolis which was charming. We went to the top of the Cero for a great view and photo opportunity. The tour takes you to the Casapueblo which is an amazing tribute to the famous artist - Carlos Paez Vilaro. It looks like Santorini on steroids. We then went through the back streets of Punta del Este and our guide explained why it's the home of the "rich and famous." We stopped near Play Brava and had some free time to photograph and get a snack. It's a long tour but it's worth it.

Not worth it, I'm afraid. Too expensive to get to see just one of the glaciers, the Spegazzini one. (The Upsala glacier can only be seen from afar, as it's deemed too risky to approach). The journey was too long and quite uncomfortable (the ferry I took was the Quo Vadis). Too many people travelling. The ferry was 80% full in Covid times, which I found unsensible and irresponsible. We could not choose where to sit or change seats afterwards. The Spegazzini refuge is partly open. You can take a (rather short) walk in the woods, but the café/restaurant/toilet area is (still) closed and looks quite derelict. I've taken other tours in the area (Perito Moreno Glacier/ Canal Beagle/Full day at Chalten) and they were less expensive, better organised and far more enjoyable than this one.
The Wine Experience pioneered Wine Tourism in Uruguay and has been Number 1 on Trip Advisor for 10 years running. We have since been creating Cultural & Sightseeing Tours that best promote Uruguay. This tour was specifically designed for small groups of 8 or more persons, so perfect for small groups, families or cruise ship groups. You will get to see beautiful scenery and landscapes on route to Colonia. This experience is really like taking a time machine back to the early 1900's, where you will get to visit a UNESCO World Heritage site, whilst taking in great architecture, culture and history. Together with our small team, our goal is to make it as personable as possible (like hanging out with a new friend). We see ourselves as ambassadors of this beautiful country and see it as a privilege to show you the best of what's around. We can't wait to meet you and share this experience :)

Ryan is a wonderful host! He is super knowledgeable about wine as well as the locations he took me. He's a great conversationalist and did an excellent job with providing an amazing wine tasting experience! So far, I have had two wine tasting experiences with Ryan and am hoping I can do one more before I leave Uruguay. If you like adventure and going a little off the beaten path, Ryan is your guy.

Unfortunately our guide didnt speak well. But "the translator" did speak worse. So the whole travel they tried to get across their tellings but interrupting each other all the time in spanish or english leading to the point where nobody understood anything anymore. The nature on the peninsula was great, the view points for sea lions or sea elephants were disappointing as the animals were hard to spot in the distance. The pengiuns were adorable and we got to see other animals like owls, the pampa rabbit-dogs and loads of guanacos. I enjoyed the day but I wished the guides were a bit better prepared for that high price. The bus in total payed neraly 2000 $, so I feel a good organized and well explained trip could be expected.

Amazing tour of an amazing city. The most noticeable thing was how clean the place was. Completely litter and garbage free. It was a pleasure being on the streets. People were friendly and the street art was out of this world. So many varieties of art from giant murals to bronze statues. The main square was beautiful and it was delightful to see the famous buildings. Our City tour took us on the short journey out of the city and to the seaside. The beach was fabulous and we came across more fabulous street art. Our tour guide (Mercedes) was clear, articulate and extremely knowledgeable, probably the best we have ever had in South America.
