Things to do in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho (ID): The Best Shopping

March 30, 2022 Janette Largent

While it may sound like a French village, Coeur d'Alene (pronounced core-da-lane) is decidedly all-American. Located in northern Idaho, this lakefront resort offers five-star amenities in a beautifully rugged setting. Visitors enjoy everything from pristine golf courses and professional quality tennis courts to hiking on pine-forested trails and biking through natural preserves. The sparkling Coeur d'Alene Lake is the center of most of the action. Sunbathe on the beach, water ski, kayak or tour the area by sea plane. At night, dine in fine restaurants and see top-rated shows. With upscale attractions in an unspoiled setting, Coeur d'Alene offers visitors the best of both worlds.

The Art Spirit Gallery

Established in 1997, The Art Spirit Gallery features high-quality, original work by regional artists embracing a diversity of mediums and styles. The gallery seeks to exhibit artists with a unique voice that show a dedication to craft, materials, observation and creativity. The 4,000 square foot gallery has hosted about 200 exhibitions and curated shows, generally opening on the second Friday of each month. It's a vibrant art environment that makes art collecting and browsing relaxed and enjoyable. Gallery founder Steve Gibbs started the gallery after a successful 15-year career as an art director and graphic designer. He strived to promote high-quality art in the resort community of Coeur d’Alene while fostering the work of local and regional artists. He joined with various arts organizations to actively promote art education and develop awareness and participation in the arts on a community and state level. Since Steve's passing on December 31, 2016, the gallery is continuing to move forward to keep his beautiful legacy alive. We have also recently collaborated with the University of Idaho to create the Art Spirit Education Collaboratory. This non-profit will run alongside the for-profit gallery as an educational arts entity. We are proud to celebrate 20 years of business in July 2017!

Anytime I have an out of town guest, Figpickles is a definite stop when we head to downtown CDA. They have a large variety of toys, games, and puzzles, many of which you won't find anywhere else. The store employees are knowledgeable about the different games and products throughout the store. it's a fun place to browse (and be nostalgic as there are many toys and games that reflect toys of the past) and shop.

Cisco's Gallery

Since no one had written a review in 6 months I thought I would just agree with what has been written before. This is more like a museum than a gallery. They certainly do have traditional art but there is so much more. There are Native American artifacts and old objects and art, there is cowboy art and memorabilia, there is furniture, there are numerous stuffed animals and mounted heads and antlers. etc etc etc.

Best trip ever! Grandkids loved it and so did the adults. Lights were beautiful, food was wonderful, and as our 3 year old granddaughter said "the North Pole was so cold, but so worth it". We will be back!
