An old factory cluster of buildings converted into a hip indoor/outdoor, multi-level complex of restaurants, coffee shops, clothing and design stores, and offices, with an art gallery, a gym, even an indoor archery club. At least a dozen places to eat, including a gelateria and an American--style microbrewery (run by Ben from Minnesota and his Chinese wife). A slice of NYC's Meatpacking District randomly in Chongqing, or a mini-version of Hong Kong's PMQ center. Located behind Eling Park (northeast side, maybe a 10-15 minute walk from Eling metro or 15-20 from Lianglukou). Definitely worth checking out.

This museum documents an important period of China’s history with Chongqing as the wartime capital and headquarters of the Nationalists. General Stilwell played a pivitol role on behalf of the USA government keeping both the Nationalists and Communists supplied to fight the Japanese. Chongqing was bombed on 218 days resulting in heavy losses and damage to the city. Chongqing was supplied during this period by a massive airlift from India over the mountains known as the hump. In turn defended by volunteer USA fighter pilots imbedded in the Chinese airforce. Good to be reminded of a time when USA and China worked and sacrificed together for the greater good, something which the Chongqing locals have not forgotten.

Our kindergarten took a trip to the museum and I went along to chaperone. Very glad I did as the museum was wonderful. Covering prehistoric paleontology, ancient Chinese history, the Sino-Japan war as well as other great parts of Chinese history, this museum is a must for all visitors to Chongqing.
