Our trip combines a sight-seeing and guided tour together. We search for wild ponies, dolphin, bald eagles, sea turtles, sting rays, all manner of wild fowl, and local creatures. We talk about local history, culture, seafood industry, economy, and modern day life. Our signature “Around the Island Tour” covers over 25 miles of coastline, in 2-2.5 hours, never passing the same spot twice. We specialize in taking small groups, on extended trips, into isolated areas. Most trips take 6 guests max. In 2016 we added a 35’, 18 passenger boat to our fleet. We run our 35' boat on our afternoon pony tour, and by request for larger groups. Eight generations of our family have lived on Chincoteague Island. Proud Mary Charters has two boats. Capt. George takes people for bay fishing trips and Capt. Mary takes up to six people for Custom Nature tours. The nature tours include looking for wild ponies, dolphins and seeing Chincoteague and Assateague Island. You can also pull crab traps and keep the catch or cruise to another barrier island to collect shells.

White Lightning Charters provides a variety of fishing options to suit your budget and time on Chincoteague Island. We offer near-shore and bay charter trips aboard our 23’ center console to fish for flounder, sea bass, tautog, striped bass (rockfish), croaker, bluefish, whiting, and sharks. These trips can range for 4 hours to 8 hours in length and cost from $300 to $700 depending on the size of your group and the length of the trip. We provide everything you need including bait, tackle, rods, and licenses. The boat also has a toilet in a private compartment should the need arise while on the water.
