While the ruins of pyramids such as El Castillo and Kukulcan are the primary reason to visit Chichen Itza, they are hardly all that’s on offer here. Otherworldly bird-watching and stargazing experiences can be found within the Maya Jungle Reserve and in Hacienda Chichen's Bird Refuge. Daytrips run from both Merida and Cancun.

We visited Cancun in Feb 2021 and booked a Sailfish Tour with Contoy Excursions. They were prompt with their responses, picked us up from our hotel, everything was very well organized, all of the staff were friendly, service overall was exceptional! We were able to see Sailfish along with dolphins, barracuda, and spend a fun day out on the boat. The Captain was very knowledgeable and Carlos our guide was great! Would recommend and would book again!

the main highlight for me is always joel, the shaman of the tezmacal. his ceremonies are sincere and beautiful, and i always feel great after I've taken part in it. snorkeling is fun, and the buffet is really good. i highly recommend this park but avoid the gift shop. my friend bought overpriced sunglasses that broke as he put them on, and the "manager" working wouldn't refund his money. very unfair.

Wow!!! So much happened in this trip that it's hard to summarize. First off...take more cash than you think you need. You'll visit several places that don't have credit cards as an option. And then remember to tip your house at the end. We felt so bad that we only had $1 dollar left to give them because they were so amazing!! So nice and polite and knowledgeable. This was a very long excursion (12.5 hours) that was incredible and we're so glad we took the time to do it. We learn s so much from the guide and the places themselves.

This tour is worth every penny. Jorge was the most amazing guide. He made sure we were always having fun and comfortable in each section of the tour. At one point when we were snorkeling he noticed a member of our group struggling to swim so he pulled her all the way through the wavey waters with a life saver. Still making sure we were all doing okay ourselves and making sure we were all able to see the turtles, sting rays and fish which were all over the place. I know Jorge had to be so tired by the end of that part because a lot of us were and he had to pull another persons weight almost the entire time. The very last section of the tour was my favorite. I would do this entire tour again but definitely because of the last part. The caves blew my might at how cool is was. Then we got fed this delicious meal at the very end. It really was a perfect day. Book this tour. It is worth it.

We had such an amazing experience with Mexico Highlights Tour. Our Guide, Julio was the absolute best. So knowledgeable about the area and history and provided everything we needed. We toured the Tulum ruins and went snorkeling at Akumal Bay and saw Sea Turtles. It was the perfect excursion for my family with young girls (ages 8 and 10) and couldn't recommend this tour group more. I can't wait to go back and have Julio take us on some more fun!!!! He even took pictures for us the whole time (and videos under water) and sent them to us that evening! Absolute best!!!

We went on two private tours (highly recommend a private tour). The first one was a tour to Ek Balam with Mosiah and the second was a tour of Chichen Itza with Nefi (Nephi). Both days included a swim in a cenote. The tour of Ek Balam was awesome. Mosiah explained so many things that helped us understand previous and current culture. After the tour, he took us to a cenote that was underground in the middle of a town. If you are a good climber, you can scale the walls and jump into the water. The family had a blast. The second tour of Chichen Itza was cool, but because you cannot climb the stairs, the site itself felt like a museum. Again, Nefi did a great job explaining things and helping us understand the architecture. My husband, joking, asked if we could go to a cenote with features we thought impossible (open cenote, with fish, something with walls we can jump off of, and no people). Um...he TOTALLLY delivered! It was so cool! We highly, highly recommend Helaman Tours!

Highly, highly recommend Yucatan Excursions ! Polo is the best tour guide and I plan to call him when we are back in Yucatan. These tours were definitely the highlights of our trip!! Polo speaks excellent English, and is a wealth of information about the region. We planned two tours with Polo, and here is a summary of each.... Tour 1: We arranged to visit Uxmal, Chocolate museum, Hacienda and Cenote. We departed early morning for Uxmal and had an early tour which was wonderful— cool weather and pretty much had the ruins to ourselves. We debated about going to the chocolate museum and thankfully went. Again, we started early and had much of the park to ourselves- we fed the spider monkeys, had a mayan ritual performance that was dedicated to us, saw beautiful jaguars, and bad a traditional chocolate tasting- Polo knew the ins and outs. We then went to the Hacienda and enjoyed a private lunch. After lunch, Polo arranged for a tour of the hacienda and accompanied us for translation. We concluded our day with a trip to a off the beaten path cenote. Polo also arranged to take pictures of us in the centoe, and introduced us to local Mexican refreshments. We had an amazing day - thank you, Polo. Tour 2 - We had such a nice time with Polo that we asked if he would be open to taking us from Merida to Tulum with sightseeing along the way. We were thrilled that he agreed, and our day included: visit to the yellow city of Ixmal (including visit for breakfast at local market and visit to local ruins), El Bakal ruins, tequila tasting and tour in Mayapan, private lunch and tour around Valladolid, and then a cool off at an incredible cenote off the beaten path. Polo was very flexible, trustworthy and accommodating. We had such a great time on both tours with Polo, and I don’t think we would have had such a great time without our tours with Polo. In summary, I would highly recommend Yucatan excursions to anyone in Merida or the Yucatan region looking for an authentic Mexican experience!
