We had a wonderful time in Bacalar with our fantastic guide Elliot. It was very windy that day so we decided to not kayak and instead used tubes and went swimming, the water was beautiful shades of blue and greens. The food and drinks were awesome and Elliot was full of knowledge and made our time there an awesome experience. Please tell Elliot if he ever gets to NY to look up Bob and Kim, also Brent and Brenda, you are more than welcome into our homes.

It was our first time paddle boarding and we really enjoyed the experience. The guide was helpful and taught us how it is done. We arrived at the beach just before sunset and he prepared the boards and put the led lights under them. We really enjoyed the sunset view as we paddled out. Once it was dark, we turned on the led lights and we could see clearly the coral reef beneath us. There where so many stars in the sky! We turned the lights off and even saw bioluminescence as we paddled through the tranquil water. It was a very relaxing and enjoyable moment. We will do it again upon our next visit

The tour was a highlight of our cruise stop at Costa Maya. Toucan Tours did a fabulous job of welcoming us when we arrived-though you do need to exit the port. Just ask people in the port shops to point you in the correct direction. They had complimentary water for us throughout the trip and explained the culture of the people of Costa Maya. Our guide and driver was Eliseo. He was fabulous! He explained so much about the ruins and its history. On the way back from the ruins we had the opportunity to stop at a road side stand to purchase some cut up pineapple and mango. The fresh fruit was delicious! Try the pineapple with chili powder. We also stopped at Mahahaul- a fishing village to experience the culture, local stands, and see the beautiful water. Our family of 6 and 2 grandparents really enjoyed the day!

Hands down and by far the best guide I have ever encounteron any trip. Ismael is a past tour guide who has went out on his own and started his own company with a partner. Ismael went above and beyond any tour that I have ever been on. We didnt use the ships exscursion. We walk ouitside the gates and had a gentleman approach us and took us back to his place of business were we meet Ismael. Ismael took all 3 of us with just him and a driver. Was very private and personal and left all kinds of extra time for my wife and Mary to ask a lot of questions whcih they absolutlely loved. he then took us to a couple of villages that were not even include with the tour. have never encountered that type of comittment to his profession before. Was worth 10 X what we paid which by the way was cheaper then the ships cost.
