Things to do in Cayman Islands, Cayman Islands: The Best Historical & Heritage Tours

October 28, 2021 Moriah Teneyck

The Cayman Islands are made up of three islands: Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac and Little Cayman. The largest, Grand Cayman has a cosmopolitan vibe, gourmet restaurants, world-class diving and the famous Seven Mile Beach. Cayman Brac is a nature lover's heaven of stunning diving and breathtaking walks along the rocky bluff. The smallest island, Little Cayman is home to just 150 people. Visitors enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and diving, especially Bloody Bay Wall, considered one of the world's best wall dives.

Booked an excursion to Crystal Caves with this company. They asked us to change our original departure time and were late to pick us up at the hotel. The driver gave a brief explanation of the island but was hard to hear over the noise of the van and he didn't seem very enthusiastic. The ride to the Caves was about a half hour and the vehicle was air-conditioned. Driver waited when we went through Caves with a guide. On return, driver seemed like we bothered him when we returned as he was eating and he had to press a button to open the van door. Maybe he was having a bad day. Not very personable when others asked questions about the island and sites. We tipped him although we probably shouldn't have (hopefully his day got better after that) but he drove well and got us there and back safely.

We loved this excursion! Our group was myself, husband, and two daughters (7 & 11) and another couple. We were early in the morning (9am) so we were at the caves before the cruise chips came in - we had the whole place to our self (well, and the bats). We had a great tour of a lot of the island, stopped at the blow holes for photos (beautiful), and went to explore the caves! Yves was a wonderful funny guide. He made the trip even better with the knowledge of the place he loves - you can tell he enjoys his career! This was our favorite thing we did on our trip.

We were visiting for my 30th birthday in April 2019 and decided to do a tour at museum. We did the self tour at Pedro St.James which was very unique. We check out the living quarters of the staff, watched a very interesting movie. Then we came across the rum tasting in the back which was by far the best part of the museum. Moses was amazing he started the rum tasting over for us. The rum is heavenly we bought multiple bottles of each one. Definitely go check out the museum and definitely check out the rum tasting after you’re done you won’t be disappointed.
