Today Casablanca is a large, modern city, but the former French colonial post still allows myriad movie moments for those who want to revisit love in the medina and Old City. Casa (as locals call it) isn’t too touristy, but it’s the most cosmopolitan and Western-feeling city in Morocco. Visit The King Hassan II Mosque and Casa's Medina.

We took this service on two occasions, both on a 4 day private trip and itinerary. We were four travelers setting out from Rabat to Merzouga on the first trip and to Imlil and Ouarzazate on a second trip also from Rabat. Imad was the driver on both trips. We were given a van of 9 in a very good condition and very clean. We liked the private trips given the pandemic and the prices were very reasonable. Imad came on time, wore his mask and kept the van immaculately clean and reminded us to wear seat belts and our masks. He knows the route and made us feel safe. On the first trip, Imad picked us up from Rabat at 9pm and made a 9 hour journey by night to Errachidia and Erfoud where we spent a night at a luxurious resort, Xaluca, and visited the area with its famous valley of Ziz, an oasis surrounded by palm trees, and saw a few natural water sources. The next day, we headed to Merzouga to stay at Berber Camp Merzouga for the night. Imad dropped us off at a meeting point where the hotel owner met with us in his beautiful 4X4 and took us to our beautiful tents and camel ride. While the night trip was suitable for us as it allowed us to take advantage of a full day trip, I could not help but think of the driver as he drove from Marrakesh to Rabat to pick us up and then drive back to the south. I would recommend that the company at least let the drivers come earlier in the day, rest before another long drive. The other recommendation I would make is about the credit card given to the drivers for the gas. They only seemed to work for one company and even so not all stations accepted the card making us go to several gas stops and drive over an hour once to get gas. Highly recommend Imad and the company.

My experience with Toubkal Guide strongly demonstrates that it is the premier guide service for Toubkal trekking. Due to Covid, I had to reschedule my trip several times. Throughout this process Jamal patiently and kindly responded to numerous e-mails and changes in plans. My trip with Toubkal Guide went without a hitch. Jamal himself met me at the train station in Marrakech, and transported me to Imlil Lodge. The lodge met all expectations. Beautifully decorated in the Berber style, it was a treat just to experience the lodge. Food was excellent and plentiful. My guide on the trek was Ibrahim. I could not have asked for a better guide. Ibrahim did everything in his power to make my trip a safe and successful experience. If you are going to trek with Toubkal Guide soon, ask for Ibrahim. Jamal, too, assisted so kindly in all aspects of my stay. He is an outgoing person, with a warm personality. Jamal and his staff are Berber. What better way to truly experience this fascinating culture than through Berber people themselves. Having been vaccinated, and armed with a negative PCR test for Covid, I had no problems whatsoever, entering Morocco. Jamal can also refer you to an approved testing site within a short walk of the Medina for your return test. The test cost approximately $60 US, and was ready the same day it was administered. Now is a wonderful time for a visit. The trail is not crowded, the weather is warming, and the Moroccan people are so welcoming. What a memory!
