Imagine a garden where you can grow food sustainably for less work than a vegetable patch, that’s better for wildlife and more beautiful to boot. Forest Garden Wales is a garden on the borders of Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire. Here you can see how to incorporate fruit & nut trees, perennial vegetables and ground cover plants for food and to provide habitats for increased biodiversity. We have two sites, the first one was started in 2015 and is quite literally bearing fruit. We’ve constructed a wildlife pond, polytunnel, propagation beds, compost bins and raised beds. There’s also a makeshift meadow, an orchard area and a willow coppice. The second is an Ornamental Forest Garden started in the winter of 2018, demonstrating how you can have your visually attractive garden cake and eat it.
