We visited the garden/gallery and were so happy we did! It offers a beautiful and lush respite from the touristy Montego Bay hip strip. Ras greeted us and gave a brief history of the home/garden/museum and interesting experience of building on the steep hillside/cliff while a hummingbird landed in my hand to feed from the feeder. The guide was very informative and pleasant. It rained while we were there which seemed only to enhance the experience...they provided us with umbrellas.

This small, but interesting museum its well worth a visit. Just a two or three block walk from Bay Street, the art is very good and the building is welcoming. The "Refuge" exhibit is superb.

Aruba Aloe Factory, Museum and Store

Aruba Aloe, founded in 1890, is one of the few Aloe companies in the world that grows, harvests, and processes its own Aloe on site. This Aloe, considered to be the finest Aloe in the world, is the base of an ever growing collection of premium skin, hair, and sun care products. Pay a visit to the Aruba Aloe Museum, Factory, and Store in Hato for your own free tour, which highlights the history of Aloe cultivation on Aruba and unveils the entire manufacturing process, from the hand cutting of the aloe leaves to the packaging of the final products.

Great trip! We arrived at approximately 10 am and made our way inside of the museum. We were warmly greeted at the front desk, and were surprised to find out that there was no entry fee to access the museum. The Aloe museum provides a free tour, and the tour guide took us to a small room inside of the museum to watch a brief educational video about the history of Aloe on the island of Aruba. There were also several plaques in the same room that contained information about Aloe and the significance it had on the island. The tour guide then took us to an area outside of the museum, where he showed us how the Aloe products were made in the factory, along with their various uses. Outside of the museum were several acres of Aloe, and I was surprised to find out that every time an Aloe leaf is cut off of a plant, the plant has the ability to regenerate itself, and grows back its leaves in a span of about 10 months. The tour guide then took us upstairs, where we got a glimpse of the factory, and saw how the various Aloe products were made. At the conclusion of the tour, there was a gift shop where various Aloe products were available for purchase. Tip: I recommend spending an hour here if you truly want to see everything.

If you have plans to buy jewelry while in the US Virgin Islands, do yourself a favor and Do not buy from ANYONE else but this family! Our entire experience of purchasing multiple pieces of jewelry from Don and his parents was incredible. Their knowledge of products was impressive, their available inventory was massive and their customer service was nothing short of impeccable! We had to have two watches sized and adjusted, so they were shipped to us in Florida. We were given Dons personal telephone number to remain in contact and he did a fabulous job of updating us every step of the way! We will never purchase jewelry again from anyone else! Ever! Already planning another trip in a few years just to see them. Do yourself a favor and pass by all the annoying business owners trying to get your attention and go straight to this store! You will walk out with an wonderful deal on beautiful jewelry and some new friends!

We stayed in Governors Harbor and this spot was a regular stop for us to load up on fresh produce - butter lettuce, spinach, arugula, zucchini, cukes, potatoes and more. We also tried the fresh baked goods on Tues and Fri morning - really GREAT cinnamon buns reasonably priced, and a beautiful selection of fresh baked bread. They also sell homemade salsa and hot sauce, selection of fresh cheeses, coffee, plus a gift shop with spirits, tshirts, photo books and other gift items. They also sell the Geographix map set of Eleuthera that contains labeled snorkeling spots and beaches that can be hard to find without directions or a map.
