Enjoy the beautiful Madeira Sunrise from the highest Madeira peak / mountain, Pico Ruivo at 1862 meters, (6,106 ft) high, and provides some of the most incredible views of the island from coast to coast. We recommend to bring warm clothing for extreme cold conditions, and a rain coat (just in case). We pick you at the hotel around 4h00am and take you to Achada do Teixeira. Then, it starts the adventure, hicking around 1 hour to the highest Madeira Peak with our certified Mountain Guides to the top, count down and wait for the beautiful colours of the sunrise. Our guide will provide some snackes and water, and then back again for a sightseeing tour in our open roof 4x4 vehicle. We'll stop at Santana city to look around and visit the traditional tatched houses and breakfast time. Continue the tour discovering other places hidden using the old / cubblestone roads. This will be one of the best tours in Madeira.

We had an amazing day with Nuno. He took us to off-road areas, he was patient with us ans taught us all of his knowledge about the plants and the local history. Madeira is the whole world in a tiny size: within a 15 minutes drive one can feel in Ireland, in Hawai or in Central Asia. All of these with the soft-temper of Nuno and the Portuguese. I was concerned this day-trip could be a tourist rip off as one experiences sometimes. But it was not and we had an unforgetfull day. Do not pass on this day-trip!

The north tour, throughout the northern parts we discover the Island and see it's old roads and experience breathtaking viewpoints to the Sea. We arrive to Santana, where we find the famous typical thatched houses, that existed long time ago in the Island. Continuing our route, we go visiting Faial and check an amazing viewpoint with all the valley. We head to Porto da Cruz, where we can visit one of the emblematic Sugarcane mills still operating in Madeira. Heading towards we see a nice viewpoint in Ponta de São Lourenço where we can see the separation between the north and the south of the island, finishing our tour at Pico do Facho where we can see a lovely view over the bay of Machico, the first city of Madeira.

The East 4x4 tour has a little bit of everything and is suitable for everyone! The First stop is Pico Do Areiro, the 3rd highest peak on the island, 1811m above sea level. There are usually very dramatic views and we tend to spend a fair amount of time up there. After that, we venture to the North side of the island, into the more rural areas such as Ribeiro Frio and Faial where you can find hints of Laurissilva forest. Next is Santana. This is where you will find the traditional, authentic "A-Frame" houses you might have seen online or in guide books. We will see lots of agricultural terraces, we will meet locals and we will have lunch at possibly the best restaurant view on the island, Quinta do Furao Hotel. (optional extra, not included in price and highly recommended) After lunch we usually like to include some wine or rum tasting depending on the time we have and what the group is like. It´s a great "first tour" for everybody who likes big views, culture, food and fun!
Inclusions: Hotel Pick-up and drop off, Small group (6 passengers max), Comfortable, closed top Land Rover Discovery perfect for all weather conditions, Qualified fun, friendly and informative guide and driver, Great introduction to the culture and history of the island, Short 45 minute levada walk (optional), Relaxed, no "time schedule" attitude
Exclusions: Food and drinks, Pick up fees (outside of Funchal)
We just completed a full-day west end tour led by Jeff. It was a fantastic day all around. Jeff arrived on time and showed us many beautiful sights we never would have found on our own. We did some off-roading in his Land Rover and felt completely at ease with him driving on these Madeira roads. We then went and saw many of the highlights of the north west side of the island. We were very happy to have the entire day rather than a half-day, which would have felt too short. Jeff listened to what we wanted to do and customized the day for us. A great value too. I highly recommend this tour.

During your visit to Madeira, it is almost mandatory to take a sea tour to observe cetaceans. Its excellent location allows you to see these species throughout the year. Take a close look at some of the 28 species of cetaceans that inhabit or visit the waters of the Madeira Archipelago. On our boat trips, it is very common to find: The Common Dolphin (Delphinus delphis) The Painted Dolphin (Stenella frontalis) The Bottlenose Dolphin (Tursiops truincatu) The Sperm Whale (Physeter macrocephalus) The Pilot Whale (Globicephala macrorhynchus) Bryde's Whale (Balaenoptera edeni). In the turtle family, the Boba Turtle (Caretta caretta) is the most sighted. Come and observe these friendly cetaceans and make your trip a truly unforgettable experience!

Ponta de Sao Lourenço is one of the most popular attractions in Madeira and the absolute best way to really appreciate this hike is by avoiding the crowds. Known for its beautiful colours and rock formations, the volcanic peninsular is one of the oldest parts of the island. The peninsula is classified as a partial natural reserve. All the land and sea by the North coast, is part of the European network of important community sites - Natura 2000. You can witness very unique fauna and flora on this side of the island, endemic birds and on the very rare occasion, a visit from the world´ s rarest seal, the monk seal. At the end of the trail, you can dive in the Sardinha port a great place for a swim in some of the cleanest water! The hike involves some ascends and descends and is considered Moderate difficulty with a total of 8Km more or less which should take around 4 hours in total to complete.
Inclusions: Pickup is offered in Funchal

Every time I go to Madeira, I have to book a tour with Dinarte since he knows the island as his back yard. The experience is incredible and his knowledge of the place cannot be matched. Also, the day will be filled with lots of laughter, good food and amazing scenery. About good food, I cannot recommand enough the Fanal tour with espetada. I didn't know I needed the tasty esperada barbecue, surrounded by the ancient trees and the little birds curious about what's cooking. Dinarte is also an amazing chef and he chooses all the ingredients himself, only the freshest produce pass the test. Do yourself a favour and have a barbecue in Fanal, you will thank yourself later ????.
