A beautifully unexpected palace, free to visit, clean and romantic. There is a fine old Drago Tree in the courtyard, suitable for photos; and a cheerful canary bird singing in the shade.

Cochineal treatment and interpretation center.
This is a relatively new museum and caught us by surprise because it was absolutely fascinating. We were met at the door by Silvia and right from the start her enthusiasm for and knowledge of the museum were unparalleled compared to some of the 'stuffy' museums we have visited. The museum clearly demonstrates, in English, Spanish, French and German the processes involved in producing cochineal products ranging from cosmetics, pharmaceuticals and even drinks! The information is well presented and there are an array of photographs, maps and artifacts showing the history of cochineal in Lanzarote especially around the Mala and Guatiza areas. We have undertaken walks all over the north of the island and always wondered why there were so many fields of prickly pear cacti ... this museum will give you all the answers. This is a little gem and your visit can take as long as you like and has a charming shop at the end which sells reasonably priced products. Don't miss this museum there is no entry fee and will give you some very interesting historical facts about farming cochineal. The museum can be visited at the same time you visit Jardin De Cactus (Cactus Garden) because it's only 5 minutes away. The museum is in Mala opposite the Arapero restaurant which is a great place to eat.
