Fens Falconry is a private (appointment only) falconry facility located in the Capital of the Fens, Wisbech. We run experience days, school visits and private functions as well as Flying Demonstrations at events.
Bought as a present. Fantastic experience from start to finish. The staff are so knowledgeable and obviously love their birds. Small group made the experience much more personal. We got to handle the birds and also had a flying display where we were allowed to have the birds flying to us and landing on our gloved hands. Totally enjoyable day for any animal lover.

The Animal Experience has moved to our new site at Stretham, a family business founded in 1995, offering hands on experiences with a wide variety of snakes, lizards, tarantulas, meerkats, coatis. We have Royal Pythons, Brazilian Rainbow Boa, Anaconda, Burmes Pythons, Cornsnakes, Milksnakes, Boa Constrictors, Leopard Geckos, Bearded Dragons, Blue Tongue Skinks, Turtles, Tortoises, Berber Skinks, Day Geckos, Tegus, Water Dragons, Tarnatulas, Cockroaches, Snails and Frogs and more in the Reptile room and our staff are happy to get some out for you to touch and hold, Outside in their purpose built enclosures we have 2 mobs of meerkats who love climbing on people and using you as their look out post - book a meerkat experience to spend 30 mins in with these cute creatures, feed them etc, then our gorgeous Coati's Yin and Yang who for adults only can be fed and climb on you - these are strong sturdy animals but very tame. Our Owls room is work in progress but Ronnie the Barn Owl is often there when not out at events - we attend schools, children's parties, wedding, corporate events and our animals are used for film and TV work. We operate a booking process so your family/group or just you can have an individual experience with a keeper so although we are small we are very hands on and love to give you any information about our wonderful animals many of which are rescued. We have a toilet on site but no cafe although offer cold drinks and chocolates, crisps, but very close is an indian/chinese buffet - Mango Valley and the Lazy otter Pub. Sat Nav sometimes takes you to a lay-by, we are the next turning on the right before A10 car sales if coming from Cambridge towards Stretham - we look forward to welcoming you.
Absolutely loved our time here! A great place with really friendly and knowledgeable staff that have a clear love for their animals. The animals are very well cared for with a large range of reptiles, insects, birds of prey, meerkats. Lots of things to see. The meerkat experience itself was amazing. So great to get to hold and spend time with them. They love the attention and it really was so much fun! Hazel was a great host, very friendly and relaxed. We really did have a great morning and couldn’t recommend coming here enough!! Thank you!!

Landscaped open areas and gardens weaving behind many colleges on the River Cam, which are known for their daffodils and crocuses in the spring, and stunning views of the colleges across the river at any time of year.
Lovely walk though lots of cyclists and joggers to avoid...! Had to keep the kids out of the way ....

Located a short distance south of Cambridge, this scenic park contains a mixture of woodlands and grasslands offering a network of scenic walking paths and picnic areas. Pop up cafes provide refreshments most weekends, especially during summer months.

As National Trust members, the missus and I are drawn to places where we do not have to pay to get in. A short trip by motor car from Cambridge, we headed Wicken Fen driving across the flats of Cambridgeshire, overwhelmed by the amount of sky. On arrival, the first thing we did after the obligatory visit to the toilets was to book onto the boat trip. After a sandwich and a cup of tea, we joined our fellow mariners and walked down to the launch, the skipper talking about the fen and the way it was worked in the past. Once on board, a gentle cruise down the lode was a delight, with the skipper’s on-Board commentary providing a lot of information. Back on land, we continued our exploration of the Board walks, taking in a number of bird watching hides and a wind pump. We saw birds and butterflies, reeds and sedge as well as trees and other nature stuff. Finally, there was a visit to a Fenman’s cottage, preserved to be as it was. Very quaint, interesting and made me happy to be living in the 21st century.

We were really pleased we spent a couple of hours here on a Sunday. It was well managed and we felt safe in these present times. Keep up the good work.

Fowlmere Nature Reserve (SSSI, 41ha) is a well-loved wildlife oasis set within farmland. Its former water-cress beds are now reedbed, fen, chalk grassland and scrub, while the area also holds a small but fine example of a chalk stream, one of the UK’s rarest habitats.
Great December day, sadly most of the birds we expected to see absent, probably the time of day, early morning or dusk best.

Beautiful place to visit, via cycle or walking. The views are out of his world and have the same feel as further down the road at Welney. The Bird watching huts along the Ouse make for a beautiful sight even when you're not a bird watcher. The RSPB centre has not been open when I visited due to Covid-19 but it does look like it would be a welcoming informative place once opened - with parking and a lovely place for a picnic.

Great place to walk dogs. At the Eldernall lane in Coates there is a proper car safe car park. It’s quite popular with bird watches as it forms part of a RSPB site
