ROMCHEIK 5 is nominated in the TOP 10 BEST INDEPENDENT Art spaces in S.E. Asia and N° 1 in Cambodia (The Guardian / November 2017) ! Romcheik 5 is the name of the neighbourhood of Battambang where, in 2012, 4 young artists (25 years old) have established their studios with the help of a donor. In 2015, this space has been extended with the construction of a building sheltering an art gallery and since October 2018 a real Museum with a permanent collection of their best artworks. The entrance to the all site is charged 5$ (discount 2 $ 50), to contribute to the maintenance of the premises and the purchase of artist materials.
I really loved this art gallery. It has interesting art by Cambodian artists, as well as a serene rooftop cafe. Would absolutely recommend a visit.

Dedicated to fine art photography of Asia, McDermott Gallery was founded in 2004 by photographer John McDermott. The New York Times called him the Ansel Adams of Angkor, writing that "McDermott's pictures are not just beautiful but iconic." McDermott Gallery has two locations in Siem Reap: at FCC Angkor and at Raffles Grand Hotel d'Angkor. Additional work may also be viewed at Belmond La Residence d'Angkor and Anantara Hotel & Spa.

If you into art (?) like me, then you will enjoy this great little museum in central Siem Reap, Cambodia. In addition to many fantastic paintings (by a variety of local and global artists), there are video displays (including optional short movies you may choose to watch), plus interesting sculptures, dotted throughout the complex. A highlight for me personally, was the massive mural, with three dimensional 3D effects housed in a special (no private filming allowed) exhibition hall, providing a fascinating historical timeline for the Khmer civilization. Glad we visited and also pleased that we took advantage of a taking one of the guided museum tours.
