Arte de Origen is a company that produces and designs unique objects inspired on images from different Mexican and Latin- American cultures.We embody such images in; carpets, boxes, furniture, mirrors and sculptures, made integrally by hand. We mainly use, paper, fabrics, metal, paints, patinas and lacquer, thus insuring unique objects, finished with wax and pigments.We use the collagetechnique to perform our objects. This are: small pieces of paper cut by hand to create the layout of each object and leave the imprint of the hand made. In this sense, every object is unique and has been made based on this principal.In some pieces the technique is developed on objects with wooden base and in the case of the tapestries they are made on basis of Kraft paper. Painting is not used, but rather is work with the original colors of the paper. In all cases the objects are finished with the patinas wax technique.Enjoy the world of Arte de Origen.

What an absolute honor and privilege it was to be a part of the experience of attending the Winemaking and Wine Tasting Class conducted by Sommelier José Martínez Cáceres! First of all the venue was spectacular... Sitting out on the terrace of Don Luis Restaurant at the Grand Solmar Resort with the sound of ocean waves crashing on the shore below provided a perfect backdrop for this event! José proved to be a most skilled instructor and one heck of an entertainer as well. We learned Mexican viticultural history along with the origin of the grape varietals used in the five separate wines that were highlighted in the tasting. The pairing of each wine with a food dish were all spot on and inspired, each was nothing shy of a Masterpiece. José’s exuberance for wines glowed through during his class, his expertise was amazing and his teaching style made us all a most captive audience.... I highly recommend this class for anyone who loves, or is interested in learning about, wine and wine pairings. You will not be disappointed!

I have visited Santiago’s Baja Anklets for years and have always found something new and gorgeous. This year was a jade bracelet with a matching pendant. I have never been disappointed with quality. I love how Santiago explains how he picks the stones and how he makes each piece. If I need a different clasp or a different bead color, he will make it for me. He is a very kind, honest man.

Fun to look at the beautiful pottery in this shop. Several interesting quality stores on this street including one across the way called Atoile --- a nice coffee shop nearby ; not far from the town square with the church and the natural history museum... that is how we stumbled across this street, walking back from there..... I am not that into shopping but this strip was fun! The nicer quality / folk art / or indigenous crafts are more appealing to me than all the "junk" souvenirs! If one had a condo or home down there it would be fun to decorate with things from these shops... oooh the beautiful pieces of stone and marble sinks in the shop next door were lovely!!!
