My wife and I had a few hours without the kids and this is very convenient. It is small but a neat little place. The tastings are $8 and you can add a tray with cheese, pepperoni, crackers and olives for $5. You get to try 6 wines and the categories are about a dozen fruit wines, 3 muscadine wines, a red that is listed by itself, dry wines-a white, Cabernet, Merlot and a Malbec and a white blend and a red blend plus a seasonal wine which was pumpkin spice. Douglas was not there but his wife was fantastic and the young men were as well. They also have wine slushees. The fruit wines are excellent (bought Blackberry) if you like those, the Carlos muscadine (bought) was fantastic and I also bought the Cabernet and Merlot as well. Great experience, phenomenal service (so friendly and after tasting even asked if there were any we wanted to try that we couldn’t). If you are only a high end wine person then maybe not you but for everyone else please visit.

The thing that is so neat about this is you can visit the historic Reed Gold Mine just down the road and then visit the Vineyard for complimentary wine afterwards! They also sell wine and wine products. Very nice welcoming people.

Came here due to a Groupon. Very friendly staff. I prefer sweet wines and they had a large selection. Decent pours of six selections and they added a seventh seasonal wine. Wound up walking out with three bottles and three blocks of cheese.

Southern Grace Distilleries at Mt. Pleasant Prison is the first distillery in the US to be located in a former prison. Tours include whiskey tasting and are available by appointment Monday-Saturday by appointment. It is located just outside Concord, NC and is about 25 minutes from Charlotte, NC.
Really enjoyed the tour by David. I knew Leanne and she would be proud to see everything continuing and getting even better. The ambience is really nice. Marketing is spot on. The tasting was very good. Everyone should take time to support this great endeavor.

Small breweries often give it their all. They know that have to excel in order to compete and many of them set lofty goals. Some of them achieve those goals while others meet and exceed them. A good example of the latter is High Branch Brewing. I paid a visit to High Branch Brewing in support of my beer blog, Great Beer Now. It was my final brewery visit/tour of the area but one I knew I had to find the time to visit, given its reputation in the craft community. It is located in historic Gibson Mill on the second level of a building that is occupied by other businesses also. You can enter from the front or the back, but I would bet that most visitors enter from the back and many people who visit are likely drawn here by the fact that it’s right next to another brewery, Cabarrus. High Branch Brewing has indoor seating and a small amount of outdoor seating on a patio. If you bring your dog, you are welcome to use the patio and while there is no kitchen you can sometimes find snacks and there is almost always a food truck within walking distance. High Branch Brewing is a very relaxed place where anyone would feel comfortable but the standout at High Branch is the beer. I loved everything I sampled here, particularly the Double IPA named Is It Hoppy. I was quite impressed by the quality of the beer overall and after chatting it up with the co- owner, I learned that he developed his interest starting with a homebrewing kit he received many years ago. He loved it so much that it led to the opening of High Branch Brewing and we, the beer drinking public, should be ever- grateful. Aiming high is important in the world of craft beer. The competition continues to heat up with each passing week as more and more breweries enter the fold. Cabarrus County has many excellent places for beer and I can say with confidence that High Branch Brewing rates among the very best in terms of beer- not just in the local area, but also in the United States. It’s a must- visit place if you love crafted suds!
