Things to do in Byron Bay, New South Wales: The Best Tours

March 24, 2022 Flossie Demartino

Byron Bay's beaches are dotted with lighthouses and surrounded by bottlenose dolphins, rays, whales and sea turtles. This former New South Wales whaling station turned tourist town is still strongly influenced by its recent bohemian past, when hippie lifestyles flourished. Bongos and didgeridoos sound in parks, sarongs and dreadlocks are common, and vegetarian restaurants abound. Give in to the casual vibe and stroll between beaches and bars for a low-key and happy day.

A highly professional tour learning about coffee production in the northern rivers region from a farmer who has been in the area for 40 years. The tour started with a tour of the coffee trees, coffee tasting and morning tea, and then on to the production area. Here we saw grading of the coffee beans, sorting, roasting and packaging and a very detailed account of the process by the owner of the coffee plantation. Finally we were able to purchase some of the excellent coffee that the farm produces and enjoyed a scenic drive back to Byron Bay by our lovely host Elisabeth. A great day out lasting 5 hours and well worth the cost.

I booked a tour through behind the barrel for my partners birthday and it was a great experience! We thoroughly enjoyed our trip and Jarryd was knowledgeable of all the beverages and knew how to show us a good time, especially with the 1%ers like letting us use the aux cord for the drive! Haha - definitely recommending to all our friends.
