Buxton is a spa town in Derbyshire, in the East Midlands region of England. It has the highest elevation – about 1,000 feet (300 m) above sea level – of any market town in England. Close to the county boundary with Cheshire to the west and Staffordshire to the south, Buxton is described as "the gateway to the Peak District National Park". A municipal borough until 1974, Buxton was then merged with other localities lying primarily to the north, including Glossop, to form the local government district and borough of High Peak within the county of Derbyshire. Despite being in the East Midlands, economically Buxton is within the sphere of influence of Greater Manchester. The population of the town was 22,115 at the 2011 Census.

Read the reviews and thought we'd give a go. Didn't book but got a table as it was early. Told straight away that it was ours for 90 minutes. Not an issue for us. Covid check in and staff fully masked up, menu explained and our first cockails ordered. Sit back and watch the magician do his stuff. 2 Tonka bombs dispatched. Superb first round drinks. Wife chatted about her favorite tipple and they were more than pleased to invent a cocktail for her, she even named it ' The Cheeky' Brillant from start to finish. Would recommend to anyone. If you are going late in the evening booking is essential.

Enjoyed spending a while in this quirky little micro pub with a funky feel and chilled out vibe. Something is bound to catch your eye from the brightly coloured beer mats wall and a popular culture display of Marvel comics, iconic film posters and character cut-outs to the prints and the selection of books, including 'The Unpublished Spike Milligan' and 'The Far Side'.

The news of Ken's passing in the late summer of 2020 was extremely sad to hear. I warmly remember my last visit in early 2020 and chatting to Ken over a well kept pint of Marston's Owd Rodger. I recall with great affection my first ever visit back in 2012. Arriving on foot whilst backpacking around the finest pubs of The Peak District, I enquired at the bar about using the pub's campsite, this turned out to be a small field with just a stand pipe for water. The street door to the pub toilets being left unlocked for access during the night. My adult son and I dined on pork pies and real ale that evening, and basked in pub's unique atmosphere. A truly memorable experience. It appears the pub has closed for good, which saddens me greatly. Thank you Ken & Jen for your many years of service as publicans and for keeping alive, for so many years, your little piece of pub heaven. Cheers Ken.

My boyfriend and I were walking in the snow looking for a place to thaw out when we stumbled across The Eagle. We met Fiona and a few locals who were massively friendly and helpful with things to do in the area. We cannot recommended this place enough it was lovely
