A 10 minute walk from the centre of Buckingham takes you to the town's oldest pub. A cosy atmosphere is enhanced by a real open fire as well as a new log burner in winter. As you would expect from a free house, the Mitre has changing and interesting beers, featuring guests from all over the UK as well as local breweries such as Blackpit. Major sporting events are shown on the five large-screen Sky and BT TV and, if games clash, different matches can be shown at once. The pub also has a beautiful new piano which landlord Pete will regularly jump on to sing a few songs and many locals also play. Pete bought the pub in May 2017 and since then the toilets have been refurbished and a new oak bar and a new cellar chilling system installed with all new pipework. The land behind the previous garden has been extended and re-landscaped.
If you are ever in Buckingham looking for a good pub to go to it is worth stretching ones legs and make your way to The Mitre. Proper beer, guest ales, open fires, large garden, and a great atmosphere year round. Well worth it.
