A truly original way of looking at art. This museum takes artworks makes them 3D and then explains them via a brilliant audio commentary. Adults only, not suitable for under 12's, totally excellent.

The current museum is housed in the old infirmary and displays the eclectic collection accumulated by nuns down the centuries. The oldest pieces date back to the 14th century. Many miracles have been attributed to the white limestone statue of Our Lady of the Potterie in the baroque church. These are detailed in stained-glass windows, wall tapestries, and a miracle book. The 13th century statue is one of Bruges' oldest preserved statues.
This site is somewhat off the beaten tourist track and takes some finding when walking along the canal side. The name of this spot is a little bit misleading as it seems to referring to a pottery. As a matter of fact it’s an impressive church respectively a hospital attached to the church. All in all a very interesting place which is well worth a visit. By the way a good reason to go for a walk through this more calm but beautiful part of Bruges with its beautiful old houses.

Torture Museum the "Old Stone" is one of the oldest prisons in Europe restored into a museum offering the visitor an impressive collection of artifacts and dramatic, life realistic wax figures which will give the visitor an unforgettable impression on a controversial system of torture where the end, Justice, justified the means.
Fascinating, atmospheric museum and well worth a visit for many age groups. This is by no means just a ghoulish trip through history. It’s an informative journey through the centuries of how punishment has ‘evolved’ and been used. Even a little insight into the horrors of torture can open up a better understanding of certain periods in times gone by. This is particularly relevant if you’re at all interested in historical/religious texts or how to ‘read’ some paintings - especially the Renaissance period. There’s a lot of information in this museum; it’s well laid out and you can easily spend an hour or so becoming completely engrossed in all the exhibits and life-like models.

What I love about traveling throughout Europe is seeing the amazing Catholic cathedrals and churches. I also that despite the Mass being in a different language, I can follow along with the exception of the Homily. I was pleased that the ushers passed out the readings in French, German, English, and Spanish, making it that much easier. While I went there to attend Mass, it is definitely worth a visit, as the architecture, both outside and inside is superb. The stained glass windows are absolutely stunning. The artwork throughout the cathedral is spectacular. If for nothing else, this is worth it to take a moment of your day to give thank to a higher power.

In the lace museum the accent is on contextualising the origins of lace and on some early developments. Displays include the basic techniques and movements, types of lace and their geographical origins, the lace industry then and now and lace teaching in Bruges. The craftsmanship and aesthetics of lace are honoured and, in addition, the contemporary and international appeal of lace is featured. The museum was developed with multimedia and interactive displays. In addition to visiting the museum, you can watch the Kantcentrum's bobbin lacemaking demonstrations in the afternoon. This is included in the ticket price (if you come before 14h you can return with your already bought ticket). All this allows you to experience the fascination of lace in Bruges and far beyond. Price: see website. The building is accessible for wheelchairs. No dogs allowed (except for guidance dogs). We have a special feelbox for the visually impaired.
This can be visited along with the Folklore Museum being in the same street. Well presentated displays and information in a number of languages. The demonstrations are only in the afternoons fro 2pm to 5pm.

We chose the full package which includes a beverage at the end. This experience includes the virtual tour or digital experience which brings you to the 1400’s Bruges aerial display including trading ships, the medieval items of trade and the countries involved. The complex water system required for this to work was completely explained as well as the dangers involved, including crime, mastering the waterways and overcoming deception. And this was only the beginning! I highly recommend this fantastic museum experience, well worth the euros!
