I was looking for a nice place to enjoy with my family on a Sunday. Had been hearing about The Wharf in Fort Lauderdale and after enjoying The Wharf in Miami decided to check this new venue out. Had a great time enjoying the vibe and ambiance as well as the delicious food trucks. All this thanks to the hostess Maria who was so accommodating and personable. Highly recommend this place to anyone wanting to enjoy a day out in the open.

Nestled in the heart of a modern downtown, History Fort Lauderdale's campus includes 3 museums that tell the story of how a wartime fort became a modern city. The campus is the largest collection of historic buildings remaining in Broward County. The History Museum, housed in the 1905 New River Inn, contains exhibits from prehistoric through present day. The Pioneer House Museum (1907) is set as if the family will return at any moment for Sunday supper. Upstairs tour Louise King's sewing room, family bedrooms with period sleepwear, children's room with period dollhouse and antique dolls. The 1899 Schoolhouse Museum is complete with period wooden desks and textbooks. Guided tours of all 3 museums begin every day at 1 PM, 2 PM and 3PM.

This 2.5-mile pedestrian promenade is crowded with joggers, skaters and cyclists with seaside cafes perfect for sitting, resting and people-watching. Or, if you’re feeling the need for speed, rent some wheels from one of the rental spots and join the crowd.
Beautiful views, interesting people and exercise all in one! I highly recommend you check it out while visiting Hollywood!

It was nice to casually walk the neach front and pier. Watching people fishing and enjoying the day. Children were loving it. Plus they have a covered area to where you can just soak in the breeze.

I remember when this house was located on Dixie Highway and used as a homeless encampment. I drove past it every day and it was so sad to see it in it's decrepit state. Since then the house has been moved to it's new location and lovingly restored. It's picture perfect now. I visited recently when they were hosting their sixth annual classic car show. Our family has a 1915 Model T that was displayed. The house was built in 1916 making our car one year older than the house! A five dollar admission got you into the show and a home tour making for a fun afternoon. They had a food truck and DJ in addition to all of the cars on display. I always love to pay a visit to the house. On the ground floor there is a living room, dining room and kitchen complete with butlers pantry. The second floor houses a room they use for changing exhibits (on this occasion there was clothing worn by the Seminole nation), a child's room, and a bedroom with a wedding dress. The wood used in the house has been completely restored and it smells so good, like a natural pine air freshener. There are two gazebos on the grounds and the house makes a lovely back drop for the weddings held there. Also every October the Women's Rotary Club of Pompano hosts a haunted house. My daughter volunteered this year doing make up for them and it's always a popular event. There aren't too many historical gems in Pompano so this house is a real treasure. It's definitely worth a visit, even more so when they hold an event.

Visiting the lighthouse is a fun project, but but it can be difficult to execute. As I understand the problem, the lighthouse is on a Coast Guard base surrounded by a private beach club so the only public access is by water. About once a month The Hillsboro Lighthouse Preservation Society runs a water shuttle to get to the lighthouse, Check the website for the schedule and the cost of the water shuttle. It could be an expensive family outing. When you get to the lighthouse on the water shuttle you can climb the lighthouse; great views, as you might guess. There is a small, but interesting, display of memorabilia and history. Also grass and some picnicking; you do need to bring your own supplies. It is my understanding other then the days of the water shuttle the lighthouse is not usually open to the public. The preservation society also runs a small gift shop / museum related to the lighthouse and it is easily accessible. The the gift shop / museum is located in Hillsborough Inlet Park which is just south of the inlet and lighthouse. (The park is east of A1A just south of the inlet.) As of the writing of this review the website says it is open four hours a day three days a week, but I would call to confirm. Hillsborough Inlet Park has some parking and is an excellent place to take photos of the lighthouse. If you don't want to or can not spend the time and money to get to the lighthouse consider just going to the park. Views of the lighthouse from the park, across the inlet, are great; they are also free!
