Walk through tropical, flowering gardens in six giant screened aviaries filled with twenty thousand LIVE exotic butterflies and the world's most amazing birds. Hand feed the small parrots in the Lorikeet Encounter! Botanical Gardens, Macaw Landing, Butterfly Museum, Live Bug Zoo, outdoor cafes, gift shop and garden center. This is the perfect adventure for the whole family! Gift Shop and Garden Center are open to the public!
Butterfly World offers an immersion in nature as thousands of colorful butterflies dash and flit and alight around in a lush tropical setting. We found these gentle encounters mesmerizing - unlike those very few reviewers who reported being able to walk through the place in 10 minutes. If getting to the other side is your life mission, you will miss the point of being there. We found the informative botanical exhibits absorbing and enjoyed the flower gardens, aviaries (from finches to macaws), museum exhibits of butterflies and moths and gift shop. The staff is courteous, friendly and open to questions. We especially appreciated the educational and science missions of Butterfly World. If you factor these critical missions into the admission price, it is a bargain and one of Florida’s most memorable attractions.

The flamingos at Flamingo Gardens are a great attraction; however, there is much more to enjoy at this lovely oasis. One should take a tram ride around the property at some point during his or her visit. Our driver and guide was very knowledgeable. The grounds are just beautiful and there is more to see than one realizes. A variety of birds live at Flamingo Gardens in different areas. Peacocks stroll around and sit on the branches of a massive tree. There are playful otters in a fun playground-type habitat, a black bear, cats, turtles, alligators, and birds of prey. This is a great place for families to spend part of a day and enjoy nature.

Uncrowded visit on the fourth of July. Greeted by iguanas of various sizes along the road. This was suggested by my twenty-something son who lives here for a quick stop to get a feel for some Florida nature! The overlook was closed due to construction bbut it was so sweltering that we probably would've skipped it anyway. The nature center was cool and had several interesting exhibits. Spied several types of butterflies outside as well as crabs near the water. Didn't take long to be tired of the heat but it was a fun little stop. Great for younger kids too.

This 247.1-acre Urban Wilderness Area is home to more than 200 species of plants, including more than 30 species of ferns, making it one of the finest examples of preserved native plant communities in South Florida.
We parked here in order to take the Cypress Creek bike trail. Decided to explore the park after our ride. Park is beautiful and well taken care of. We stayed on the boardwalk to explore and had lunch on one of the picnic benches. Super relaxing and shady park. Definitely will return.

Flamingo Road Nursery's free Butterfly Pavilion is open and Florida native butterflies are appearing each day. Staff members are on hand to explain the life cycle, describe the species and offer guidance in selecting plants that attract butterflies. Educational butterfly facts are posted throughout the pavilion. Families are welcome to stop by frequently to seen the new arrivals. Open 7 days a week from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
If you want to attract butterflies to your home they have plenty of plants as well as knowledge regarding the local varieties of butterflies. Many of the plants will have butterfly eggs or even caterpillars on them. You will be surprised how quickly you can have plenty of butterflies around your home!

I never knew that this incredible park was only a short distance from the Sawgrass Mills Mall. I always zoomed passed it on my way to the mall not realizing how much it had to offer. I finally decided to stop one night on a trip home and was amazed to find the huge wetland trail that runs at the back of the park. Some parts of the trail are paved and some are gravel and it crosses over several wooden boardwalks. I saw signs that it was used by the equestrians who have their facilities at the back of the park. My favorite part was in the water under one of the boardwalks where I saw at least 50 turtles swimming around with the fish. It had just finished raining alleviating the oppressive Florida heat for a moment making my evening walk among the wetlands pleasant. The trail let me out at the huge playground called Camp Everglades. Opened in 2004, it was designed with an Everglades theme. Components of the playground include an Everglades village, fishing camp, and tree huts. The park also has a community center available to rent to Plantation residents for private events, picnic tables, benches, bathrooms, tennis courts, and basketball courts. I loved my visit to this park. Birds were soaring overhead and fish and turtles were swimming below. I definitely won't be passing this park by again. It's a park worth taking your camera out for.

This 5.4 acre park features a river board walk and boat dock, observation pier, a pavilion area, nature trails, restroom facility, a court yard, natural habitat areas and Historical Manor that is available to rent for your event. We have been there often and always enjoy it. Every year the City has a Canoe race that ends in the park with a wonderful picnic. On Saturday, May 18th, You will see canoes race around this Island City starting at Colohatchee Park at 10 am and ending at Richardson Park. I have been in the race..but now I just watch it and cheer on my friends. There are also plant sales, the city's "Taste of the Island" and Holiday events in this park.

We were kind of looking forward to stopping and stretching our legs, as we drove from Fort Lauderdale towards Naples. This is a great spot to catch a view of local critters and there is a lot of information that is available to those, as well. Florida does a great job with this area.
