The beaches of tropical Broome aren’t just beautiful—they’re historic. The white-sand Cable Beach is named for an undersea telegraph cable that was laid in the late 1800s, connecting Broome to Singapore. A short hop over the dunes is Minyirr Park, and, on the eastern shore, Town Beach is home to a famous natural phenomenon, the Staircase to the Moon. Time-travel to the prehistoric era by heading to Gantheaume Point to check out 130-million-year-old dinosaur footprints.

The AWARD WINNING BROOME HERITAGE CENTRE’S Relationships Exhibition, Heritage listed ‘Old Convent’ building and Garden of Healing offers a unique window into the Kimberley’s pioneering past and the relationships between its Asian, Aboriginal and European people. View the significant Kimberley photographic collection displayed in one of Broome’s remaining few Japanese ‘Shinkabe’ buildings, visit the original foundation site where the Sisters lived in 1908 and wander the paths into tranquil garden-rooms to see native fruit trees and listen to narratives on the audio stations.
This Centre is a wonderful collection of an enormous amount of information regarding the provision of health services by nuns at Beagle Bay. I spent a number of hours there and would certainly go back.

A truely unique Broome Pearl Collection, The Courthouse Collection's philosophy from the start has been to create an Affordable, Desirable and Original jewellery range that represents excellent value. The Courthouse Collection's passion to help our visitors to Broome understand the great variety of Pearls available in town has created a Free walk through museum style tour in our world class Pearl Information Centre, explaining and exploring the grading system and world of pearls. Equally as important is our commitment to personalised service, honesty, integrity and after sales service. We invite you to discover our beautiful world class displays open 7 days a week.
So many pearl shops to choose from in Broome along with pearl farms to visit, this shop is right next door to the Visitor's Centre and local bus stop so easy to visit and lots of jewellery to choose from including pearls of course. Very friendly staff and a wide range of prices.

I am fascinated by this kind of art. The colorful paintings of James Down are amazing. The paintings of the Outback are magnificent. It's a fantastic gallery and a wonderful place to buy unique gifts and paintings. They also ship paintings overseas for a reasonable price. When I'm in Broome, the gallery is on the to do list.

Yane is a well known Broome photographer who strives to capture the true essence of the Kimberley in every image he takes. The gallery boasts a display of striking natural landscape and aerial photography of Broome and the greater Kimberley region. The gallery offers a range of matted prints, gift ideas, photo souvenirs as well as acrylic and canvas prints for purchase. Yane was recently awarded '2017 AIPP Australian Landscape Photographer of the Year'
Visited by chance and walking through Broome. The photos on show really capture the natural beauty and colours of the region, and you can see why Yane has won many photography awards. Bought one of his photos of Cape Leveque. Would recommend a visit.

ART + GIFTS INSPIRED BY THE KIMBERLEY Black Stump is an exciting new gallery by artist Emma Blyth dedicated to bringing you unique artworks inspired by the Kimberley. We exhibit a wide range of works by select artists in various media and locally inspired Australian made art and gifts. Visit Black Stump for your own piece of the Kimberley.
We have followed this wonderful West Australian artist’s work for many years, and when we learnt she was opening a gallery in Broome I knew I had to include it in my recent holiday. Emma Blyth has created a beautiful space, with many of her own, incredible original artworks - reflecting the richness, vibrancy and uniqueness of The Kimberley - and also those of other local artists. As a totally unexpected bonus, she was in attendance at the gallery and was so gracious with her time as we asked endless questions about the origins and style of her work. There are a number of galleries in town, but this is by far the most clever and peaceful space, without the busy-ness and the obvious skew to tourism. From the beauty and originality of the purpose-built Broome-style building, to the colourful and inspiring art inside, the Black Stump gallery is a must for your Broome itinerary.

Short Street Gallery is without a doubt the most important indigenous gallery in WA, if not Australia. They source amazing work from across the country, including Tiwi, and show the diversity and sophistication of indigenous art in Australia. They represent significant Kimberley artists and you can see local work here. They also have a large stockroom at Town Beach where you can view and purchase works. This year they were lowish on stock from the artists I love in the East Kimberley, so I left empty handed for the first time. Back soon I hope!

A landscape artist of over 15 years I work with oil paints on canvas and Aluminium panels. My work is held in collections across Australia and overseas. I have a beautiful working studio gallery and welcome visitors to come and view the collection or book a time to paint with me in 'The artist hour'.
Suzi French is an incredibly talented Broome artist who also offers art classes. Today my husband dropped me off at her Gill St Gallery for my Artists Hour booking. I was thrilled with the experience and the unexpectedly excellent outcome of around 90 minutes with Suzi, and her thoughtfulness at taking these photos. It experience was so good, I will book another!
