Established in 1959, Covert Farms Family Estate Winery is located in Oliver, BC on 650 acres of benchland. Winemaker Gene Covert is a 3rd generation farmer who worked this land with his father and grandfather. Our certified organic estate vineyards are influenced by the majestic McIntyre Bluff and managed with biodynamic practices. We craft our estate wines with minimal intervention, using natural fermentation when possible to focus on vineyard and fruit. Our white wines display purity of fruit and a crisp natural acidity coveted by growers, and low yields result in terroir-focused artisan reds that are luscious and age-worthy. Those who love recreation dually appreciate our location at the gateway to the iconic Okanagan landmark McIntyre Bluff, which makes a great place to picnic, bike ride or hike. Secrest Organics at Covert Farms operates our seasonal fruit & vegetable stand, and visitors can get their hands dirty in the u-pick section - selecting ripe produce under the summer sun.
Really beautiful family winery and farm. The Epicurean grand reserve tasting was fantastic - the host was great at explaining the wines and the background and philosophy of the organic farm. She also gave us time to enjoy the wines and didn't rush us at all. The charcuterie board that came with the tasting was really great, with local foods and fresh items from the farm. The wines were a little more expensive than some wineries, but were really interesting and unique. We were so happy that they also have a kids farm tour and tasting as well - our kids enjoyed this winery so much more than other ones with no kids' activities! It made for a much more enjoyable tasting for the adults to have the kids busy.

Went with my daughter and grandkids 14 and 8. Definitely the highlight of our day. The animals are numerous and you can feed the cows. Goats, pigs, pony, rabbits, kittens, puppies, chicks, sheep. It had rained that day so I recommend boots or shoes you don’t mind getting dirty. The only downside was not seeing any hand cleaner for public use. Lots of pumpkins in the pumpkin patch!!

My wife and I always go to Hillside Orchards when we visit the Okanagan. This year we stayed in our trailer on their property for a week's stay. Such a gorgeous spot! Heide made a concerted effort to ensure we were looked after. Whether it was delivering fresh eggs and fruit to us, or just stopping to talk, she took time out of her busy day to befriend us! We were able to enjoy their wonderful vegetables and fruits every day. Parking our trailer was easy, had water and power supplied. There are also 2 yurts next to us, one of which our daughter and her husband stayed in for one night with their dogs. Heide and her family are genuinely nice people, who made our stay there so enjoyable and comfortable! Will definitely return!

Holly Hill Farm is an interactive and vast petting farm located in the heart of Campbell River, on Canada’s beautiful Vancouver Island. The winner of Campbell River’s ‘Best New Business’ Award, Holly Hill Farm is open to the public every Sunday from 10-2:00 (mid-March through October). Guests are invited to explore and immerse themselves in a free-ranging barnyard: holding chickens, snuggling baby bunnies, brushing mini goats, and hand feeding a friendly alpaca and horse. Truly a hands-on experience like no other, visitors can scratch a pot belly pig’s belly and, on lucky occasions, witness the birth of a newborn sheep or goat! Developing into a cultural and agricultural hub of Campbell River, Holly Hill Farm also hosts community events, birthday parties, summer camps, and educational after-school programs. The farm is also a supplier of healthy free-range meats, eggs, and fibre raised ethically and naturally.

Sure, there are sacks and sacks of organic flours and other ingredients at this welcoming spot just off the Trans-Canada Highway south of Chilliwack. But, goodness gracious, do not miss the fresh-baked loaves of organic bread right by the entrance doors. There were a half dozen different offerings and we selected the sour dough, a gorgeous loaf that was quickly sliced by a helpful employee. We raved about the bread when it become lunch in the car with cheese on our way later. We raved about it days later when we returned to Seattle and had it as morning toast. If only we'd bought a second loaf, or maybe a second and third! Learn from our mistake....

Teunis & Pam Van Kalkeren are the Owner/Operators of Van Kalkeren Orchards located in Osoyoos, BC. Our Orchard & Fruit Stand is the heart of our family operated business and has been for 50 years. It all started with Pam's grandparents over 70 years ago & in the late 1960's Teunis & Pam took over. This orchard is where Teunis & Pam's children were raised & where their grandchildren come to visit.
We stopped in to check out the fruit stand and ended up with wonderful, warm hospitality, warm apricot pie & coffee while enjoying a view across the lake, and homemade preserves we can’t wait to try! Thanks Pam! Lois & Dave

Dreamcatcher Meadows (Jill and John) We may be bias since it was our wedding but we have been told everyone agrees with us. Dreamcatcher was the best Venue we could ever have imagined for a wedding. The scenery was breathtaking. The place was huge, every corner of the property was beautiful and had something to offer. Jill and John were super accommodating. We saw this place in the winter even before it was at its best and one main thing that sold us was we did not have to coordinate, think or worry about everything. Their venue already offered a lot of important items. They had a place to get ready, they had the grass area, the covered area, an area for rentals, caterers, hand made harvest tables that fit the scene perfectly with chairs to match, wine barrels for small tables, power and even amazing party lights that were extremely elegant. Then we got to see the place in spring with all its natural beauty. Flowers, horses, river, grass, wildlife. Everything was alive and beautiful without needing much more. The day before John freshly cut the grass, set up hay bales and a few antiques that just put icing on the cake. They had patio heaters if we needed them and even brought out firewood for their fire pit (no fire ban at the time) to top it all off John set up games everyone could play together on the grass and Jill took pro photos of the wedding throughout, we couldn’t even notice her and the photos were awesome. At one point of the wedding we just stood there and looked around, apparently a few others did this too. The place was perfect. The children playing in the grass field, people conversating beside the river, others grouping together to play horseshoes, a few around an open fire pit drinking wine, the partiers living on the dance floor and still a bunch of people at the tables stuck in conversation. Even the rental toilet area was hidden away but with its own area surrounded by enough beauty that they didn’t feel like typical outhouses. We would get married here again if only to have this experience in a place like this one more time. Beyond expectations.
