The official name of the church is the Church of Saint John of Matha and Saint Felix of Valois. However, due to its association with the monastic Trinitarian Order, it has become commonly known as the Holy Trinity Church. Located near Bratislava's Old Town, it was built in the Baroque Style. The design of the church emphasizes space and light, its design thought to be influenced by St. Peter's Church in Vienna. Outside, the main portal is richly decorated in Rococo style, celebrating the Holy Trinity. Inside, the arch of the church is dominated by a cupola with "trompe-l'oeil" frescoes, which is an art technique that uses realistic imagery to create the optical illusion that the depicted objects exist in three dimensions. The church consists of a massive main altar and several side altars. Look upward at the inner cupola and you will find a blue and red cross, the symbol of the Trinitarian Order. The main work of art is the large altar painting depicting St. John of Matha and St. Felix of Valois, the two founders of the Trinitarian Order. To either side of the main altar are large statue of St. Agnes on the left, and St. Catherine of Alexandra on the right. There is much to see in this richly decorated parish church, so take the time to look around!
