The Woodlands at Phillips is the retail store for Phillips Mushroom farms. We are in the restored family farmhouse dating back to 1828 offering a large variety of Phillips fresh mushrooms and "everything mushroom". Follow the path of mushrooms to our FREE Mushroom Growing Exhibit and Museum open year round. Check out our website and join our monthly newsletter. We also have an online store on our website.
This was a really fun spur of the moment afternoon. Really interesting to see how mushrooms grow and learn about the history of Kennett Square mushrooms and especially the Phillips family. Gift shop is interesting and has unique gifts. It was wonderful to purchase a variety of fresh mushrooms to take back to New York! Staff was exceptionally helpful and nice. Definitely a stop to make time to visit! Would go back when visiting near Philly to get freshest mushrooms.

Since 1982 Neuchatel Chocolates has produced the finest Swiss chocolates with one goal in mind, to provide chocolate lovers everywhere in the United States the finest, freshest, best tasting, and innovative chocolate products this side of the Atlantic Ocean. This goal has never changed and continues to be Neuchatel's guiding light for all our future endeavors. In fact Neuchatel Chocolates constantly strives to raise the bar on the definition of chocolate excellence. Within the past few years' excellence has meant expanding our markets and providing superb chocolate in relatively new forms. Neuchatel Chocolates now offers both an organic line of chocolate and a sugar-free line that uses maltitol as a sugar substitute. Our sugar free line is safe for diabetics and has been a best seller. Both the organic and sugar free chocolate lines have allowed people who may not have been able to enjoy chocolate before, the opportunity to rediscover the incredible flavor of rich, decadent Swiss chocolate. Neuchatel's chocolate confections are created by our 5th generation Swiss Chocolatier, Albert A. Lauber - Oxford, Pennsylvania's very own Willy Wonka. Albert or "Al" as most of our factory store patrons affectionately call him has been hard at work at Neuchatel for all of its years. Albert's dedication to chocolate excellence has been prevalent since day one and continues to grow along with his experience.
Quality chocolates in a variety of offerings, from traditional bars, by the bag, or whimsical creations.

I can’t tell you how many times I have gone past this special book store. I have read newspaper articles about the store...all the while forlornly waiting for a spare minute from working myself half to death, or driving kids, or food shopping, etc. To go in and feast my eyes on all the books. Well finally.... I was driving by (in the midst of errands, and working during ‘vacation’) and I was impelled to turn around and go back to the store...it was a delicious adventure. As far as ‘libraries’ go this has an immense diverse collection, I was there for over an hour... pouring through the book collection, walking on barn wood floors, up staircases that beckoned to a secret cache, mazes of bookshelves, all labeled and categorized. Even though there is a map, I still needed the managers help to get to the third floor:) then there were more books and a curious door (probably for hay way back when) very Harry Potter storyish. I found a novel, nuke historian book, a Linus Pauling book, a old book with pictures of travels across the world from 1700s the book was maybe 1950, another history book about local scientists, a book on American Indians, and others. The book prices were reasonable. Very thankful for the store, a gem and national treasure. The manager was very great and knowledgeable( he knew Linus Pauling won the two Nobel prizes, one for Chemistry and one for Peace). Very fun when a store can inspire one to read and have an adventure too.

Discovered this shop as we strolled down Bridge Street after dinner. Wide selection of tasty favorites (turtles) and unusual combos (chocolate bark with blueberries). Friendly service. Will buy here again.

Highland Orchards is another reason I love living in Chester County. It's situated in the middle of farm land, near the Brandywine Valley Association, and the locally made food is a treat. In addition to their amazing donuts and spiced tortilla chips, their deli and hot bar are great for breakfasts and lunches. Definitely worth the 15 min drive or 45 min leisurely bike ride from West Chester.
