When you have done Rome several times from the cruise stop in Civittavechia try the tombs visit to Cerveteri - 3000 to 4000 years old an a Unesco heritage place to see. The best station to get off the train is Cerveteri - Ladispoli . The bus to Cerveteri old town / Necropolis goes from the station square; the old town is on a hill and quaint. On the way back to Civittavechia by train a stop at the seaside resort of Santa Marinella is worth an hour or so for a look around.

Cesar, our driver was punctual for pick up at our Hotel in Rome and throughout the visit to Assisi. He advised us as to what we were going to visit and where to go. Even though we did not employ an licensed guide, Cesar information directed us to what we needed. We had a very nice lunch in Assisi, one that Cesar said was going to have the flavor of the Region, which it did. We arrived gback in Rome around 1730-1745, just in time to go to Mass at Sacred Heart of Jesus, just a block away from our Hotel, Royal Santina, Best Western. Stefano Tours will be are first choice for Tours or Transfers on our next visit.

We had been due to see Andrea Bocelli in concert, but obviously with the current restrictions that is simply not possible. Instead, we decided to take a tour tailored to our needs and organised by Alessio, the maestro's nephew. From the first email, Alessio was easy to deal with, quick to reply and luckily for us spoke excellent English. We started with our tour with Tony, who picked us up from our accommodation in an air- conditioned comfortable 8 seater. We drove about 40 mins to the beautiful town of Volterra for a couple of hours of sightseeing, including visiting an alabaster workshop and a coffee stop. Tony's English is perfect and he chatted and explained the sights and history as we walked - just the right amount of information offered to make the experience interesting but not too heavy. Then back to Lajatico for a brief wine tasting and a most wonderful 4 course meal ( coeliac catered for with no issues). Afterwards we drove around the family vineyards and stopped off at the Teatro del Silenzio ( movingly covered with flags apparently as a thanks to the health workers of the world) A most memorable day for us all, I would recommend it wholeheartedly , thank you Tony, Alessio and the Bocelli family.
We will depart from Rome to the mysterious town of Calcata. The history of this craggy north Lazio town dates back almost 3, 000 years. It was condemned in the 1930s by the Fascist-era government over fears of its impending collapse, and all residents were relocated by the 1960s. However in the 1970s Calcata received a new lease of life when artists began squatting in its abandoned houses and caves. Calcata retains this hippy atmosphere today and there are numerous restaurants and craft shops to browse, as well as the nearby waterfalls of Monte Gelato. Several alleys lead to viewpoints on the edge of the crags, looking over woodland and the odd ruin. Some of Calcata’s houses are built right into the rock, forming cave-dwellings. Later, we will drive to Bracciano, a hilltop town overlooks the volcanic Lake Bracciano to enjoy a wonderful lunch surrounded by nature. In addition to its water sports and lakeside views, Bracciano is known for its medieval Odescalchi Castle.

The Virtual Wine Tasting with Caron and CMC World Travel was such a great time!! The experience was amazing and felt like we were actually at the Italian winery. The level of knowledge the host had and shared for each wine was a wonderful learning experience. We were even able to order some of the wine afterwards, which I can not wait for! I would highly recommend this to my family, friends or anyone thinking about doing one!!
