The Cemetery Church of All Saints with the Ossuary

This Gothic church, located in the middle of a cemetery, dates from the end of the 13th century; in 1698, it was rebuilt in the Baroque style. Sedlec ossuary, a small chapel located in the graveyard of the Church of All Saints, is decorated with the bones of more than 40,000 people.

It was quite a unique experience, there are 9 bone chapels in Europe. It has a great history behind it. The church is decorated with bones and skulls. IT is creepy and fascinating at the same time to see and walk around the church. It is a must visit and is hardly an hour drive from Prague.

Olsanske Cemeteries

Reviewed By Wenovo - Morris County, United States

Prague's largest cemetery, centuries old. Extraordinarily beautiful. Peaceful, tranquil and serene. I walk the same stretch of the road to our family grave, not too far from the main gate. To bring flowers and light a candle. For my grandparents, parents and my sister. I am always surprised how quiet and deserted this place feels, how vastly big it is. I spent time walking around, admiring the beautiful statuaries, the old family tombs, crypts, from centuries ago. The old trees that got older and have grown so much, since I was coming here as a child. The beautiful ivy that grows out of control over the old abandoned graves, no-one visits anymore. It is so quiet, so peaceful, so sad . I leave with a heavy heart...

The Jewish Cemetery

Reviewed By GinnyShoe - Canada, null

This site is quite far away from the small fortress but it is well worth seeing. The small exhibit in the crematorium is free to visit and gives an excellent overview of the cemetery and its history. The grounds of the cemetery are not big but are worth walking through slowly once you know the history of the area. Some parts have had to be restored since a flood in 2002. There are memorial candles available here for 5 kc that can be lit inside the crematorium.
