The Massachusetts State Police Museum and Learning Center is a registered 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to collecting and preserving the history of the nation's first state police organization. Through our educational programs, interactive displays, mobile museum, research library and historical exhibits we strive to be a resource for our community.
Please note the museum is no longer located in the old state police barracks on Worcester Street due a fire - it's now located on Providence Road - still in Grafton. We went to the wrong location & had to backtrack & arrived at 2:30 on a Tuesday. The officer gave us a one hour tour - even though the closing time is 3:00. He was very informative & answered all our questions. So much history here. My husband loved Sgt Toney's uniform at he used to work with him ("He never fit into that! he said!) & he also enjoyed seeing the 1977 Ford police car. They have recreated Norman Rockwell's "Runaway" scene which is lots of fun! You could easily spend 2 hours here. They are open every Tuesday & every other weekend.

Located in a 1915 textile mill, the museum is dedicated to the political and cultural lives of the working class. It also serves as a visitors center for the Blackstone Valley National Corridor.
The facility is clean and well organized, allowing the visitor to engage the displays in a chronological order. Staff is wonderful. Very much worth some time to view the offerings, which will bring back memories for many people who grew up in New England.

A National Historic Landmark, the Slater Mill is a living history museum and educational center.
We stopped at Slater Mill to check out the southern end of the Blackstone River Valley National Historic Park. We started at the Slater Mill visitor center, but the docent there suggested we start at another visitor center across the street from the mill complex. We started there, looking at their posters and timeline. Then we watched a short video which provided another level of information specific to the mills that were built along the river. We returned to Slater Mill and the docent, Dee, took us on an excellent tour of the 3 historic buildings in the mill area: the Sylvanus Brown House, the Wilkinson Mill and the Slater Mill. There is a lot to see and learn here, so allow plenty of time and ask lots of questions!

The Willard House is a cultural and historical treasure hidden in the heart of Blackstone Valley. In addition to the beautiful architecture, which dates to 1718, the museum also features one of the finest collections of clocks in the world. Come by for a tour and see where time began in Blackstone Valley.
The Willard House is the gem of Grafton and historic treasure for the state of Massachusetts. The staff is most knowledgeable about the history of the Willard family as well as the rare artifacts within. A must visit.
