The Schwabentor was the entrance to the old town for everybody coming from east, meaning the black forest. The Street leading from there into the center ist called Salt Street, Salzstrasse, and marks an old celtic trading route. Why it is called the "Swabian" Gate is a long story that you better find out attending one of the fabulous guided tours, many of them provided in English.

Very nice town to walk and see the sights. Canals running through the city are nice. Great shopping and restaurants.
