The Bhojeshwar Temple is an incomplete Hindu temple dedicated to Shiva. It houses a 7.5 feet high lingam in its sanctum. The temple's construction is believed to have started in the 11th century, during the reign of the Paramara king Bhoja. The construction was abandoned for unknown reasons, with the architectural plans engraved on the surrounding rocks. The unfinished materials abandoned at the site, the architectural drawings carved on the rocks, and the mason's marks have helped scholars understand the temple construction techniques of 11th-century India.

Located on a small hillock it offers amazing views of the city. The temple premises are quite clean and peaceful. The temple closes in the afternoon between 12-4 pm. Photography is not allowed inside the temple. There is a nice museum nearby with lot of sculptures and other archaeological finds.

Went to visit in the morning. Enough parking space. Saw young children and teenagers memorising the Quran inside the Mosque. On one side are the classrooms where students are taught the basics of Quran and languages like Persian, Arabic and English. Had an enlightening conversation with a Teacher about rights of Muslim women in the past era and now.

In the heart of the city on a hillock is this temple. We missed on entering and getting the blessings as it was closed. Do check the timings before heading there. We took a chance and had a good experience irrespective. Since it is perched atop a hill there are three ways one can get there - Drive thru dwindling roads thru jungle and enjoy the greens and birds, Walk if you have the strength and time and last and the best being the Ropeway. The ropeway is open almost all thru the day till late evening but the temple is time bound. There are multiple points atop which offers a panoramic view of the Bhopal city, its lakes, skyline and the whole airport. This makes it a popular hangout place for young and old. There were a lot of young couples trying to find some cozy corners to young kids enjoying the view. There are a few small shops offering to eat and drink. Cabs don't usually go up till the temple they drop at the Ropeway ticket counter. Must visit to enjoy the view and to seek blessings of course.
