I don’t even know where to start! This trekking experience in Upper Mustang with Rabin and his two most excellent porters was one of the highlights and one of the best experiences of my life! We did a 20 day trek through the magical and mysterious untouched upper mustang. I feel like a whole new person! That place is truly untouched and magical and people still live there in the villages as if it was centuries ago. The beautiful white snow-capped Annapurna mountains as a dramatic backdrop framing the mysterious and enchanting desert was like two worlds colliding that should never be together, but when seen in person, it’s breathtaking! I feel like this place is going to change very soon and become very popular, so if you are going to go, GO SOON while it is still primitive and barely touched by tourism. The terrain is moderate, but challenging at times, but when you are done with your day, you feel as if you had conquered the world and completely at peace and one with nature. The people of Nepal are so happy, kind and simple that it makes you want to redo everything and start over in life. They still churn their own yak butter and work hard in the fields and live joyously and to a ripe old age. I feel as if Rabin, Daywon and Sanubabu and Santi Are all like family to me now. We were even invited to their wonderful home after the experience to have dinner with their wife, beautiful child, Grandma and entire family for the most delicious meal ever! Everyone went so above and beyond and all of them are so wonderful at what they do! There were so many wonderful moments and now it feels as if I never went and it was all a dream. If you have the opportunity, please go and make this dream your reality. You only live once and you will be so glad that you did this! Oh... and ask Rabin about the “local Nepali wine” before bedtime! Lol! Love life to the fullest!
