Berlin is an edgy city, from its fashion to its architecture to its charged political history. The Berlin Wall is a sobering reminder of the hyper-charged postwar atmosphere, and yet the graffiti art that now covers its remnants has become symbolic of social progress. Check out the Weltzeituhr (world time) Clock, topped by a model of the solar system, then turn back time by dining at the historic Zur Letzten Instanz, a 16th century restaurant that was frequented by Napoleon and Beethoven.

The place used to be marshaling yard (you can still see rests of rail tracks) and cIty authorities decided to turn it into cultural venue and give it to youth so that it can cultivate itself with punk and hard core music. Awesome. Now the place is covered with graffiti and smell like teen spirit of marijuana with kind bouncers at the door, who looks like bears hell angels with poetic souls (bouncers, not the doors). There is an open air cinema, with bleachers for couple of hundred of spectators, ping-pong tables and grill place at the outdoors and bar both in front of the venue and in there. serving the liqueurs is recycling friendly. Wardrobe offers wooden clothes hangers and it's really hipsters' punk rock place. In the hall there are bunch of sofas and armchairs, dirty and full of dust all right, but it's a blessing for old punk rockers' tired feet in the pause of the gigs at different festivals. Legendary tram No 10 leads right to Astra Kulturhaus. Been there many times and only can recommend the venue in every way.
