What a pleasure to explore Varenna and the surrounding beautiful landscape of Varenna with the areas most well known guide Nadia and her trusted companion, her dog Thea. The 6 hour tour passed in no time at all aided of course by Nadia's expertise and in-depth knowledge and of course the stunning scenery. Nadia's english is excellent so i did not miss out on any of the numerous facts and historical stories she had to tell us all. Our day started with a brief introduction of the itinary as well as a historical narrative insight into Varenna and the area of Lake Como - Thereafter our glorious day began - a gentle stroll around Varenna before the gentle ascent to the Castle of Vezio (Castello Di Vezio). What can i say, just the most amazing views from this area and with Nadia's commentary it was as if we were being taken back in time as she relayed the many happenings of a bygone era of many centuries ago. A light lunch of local cheeses & meats before we were off once more hitting the trail, this time in the direction of Fiumelate and its famous river that comes out of the mountain. On our way Nadia surprised us with a lovely little detour which was a delight, a quick, very manageable ascent off the main trail led us to a small natural terrace that offered additional breath-taking panaramic views where she informed us writers and artists alike had spent their time here inspired. After this it was off to the Sorgente Del Fiumelatte - The source of the river. Being a hot summers day the cool air rising from the fast flower river was refreshing indeed. After here we made our way back in the direction of Varenna this time to visit the immaculate gardens of Villa Monastero and Villa Cipressi an absolute paradise. I have been forutnate enough to have visited Villa Monastero previously and i will again it is an area of beauty that pulls you in time and time again. As for Villa Cipressi you may well see me sitting on one of the benches there reading my book or just gazing out to the vast expanse of Lake Como - It's a garden of relaxation and calm. The tour was over and it was Nadia's kind and warm approach that made this a memorable day indeed. If you are in Italy it's a 10/10 MUST to go on one of Nadia's many excursions she offers. You will not be dissapointed!!

Wonderful Hikingtour on Lake Como visiting the ORRIDO, a breathtaking natural gorge: we will cross the gorge walking on suspended walkways fixed to the rock wall, above the impetuous flowing of the Pioverna . Among dense forests , gardens,pictoresque old rural villages, we will reach the CASTLE OF VEZIO, a medieval Castle in a unique wonderful scenery in the central part of lake Como, in front of Bellagio, Tremezzo and Menaggio. Our Tour ends in VARENNA, typical village with its colorful houses and the walkway of lovers.

3. Bellano: a hidden jewel at Lake Como
In Bellano we will be welcomed by a local art expert on the eastern bank of Lake Como. We will walk through the side streets of the village visiting its squares and its ancient churches. It is here that we will learn about the legends related to the Bellano “Orrido” waterfall while we listen to the roar of the waters thundering in the rocky gorge of the creek. We will be surrounded by stunning lakes and mountains in an adventure full of art, history, curiosities and famous characters from Lario (Lake Como).

This is a great winery-tour near Rome (40 min drive from the Aurelia district). If you’re not able to reach the winery with your own transportation, they offer a service for you. The winery is very authentic and beautiful, and the tourguide speaks English very clear. We got to see the grapyard and tasted 3 different wines. With each wine, you will have a small meal which allows you to taste te wine even better. After te tasting part, we got to see the winesellar. We bought a few bottles at this place to take home and surprise our relatives. A experience you won’t regret!

This tasting was one of the highlights to our trip. The winery was located on the hillside over looking the lake. Not only did it have stunning views it had great wines that were paired with yummy local cuisine. The amazing staff and family were top notch it was great to hear how the winery got started and the process the they use to make these amazing wines. I highly recommend this tour.
5. Varenna the Beautiful E-Bike Tour
Around Varenna there are many gems worthy of seeing, two of which are certainly the 'Orrido di Bellano' and 'Castello di Vezio'. On this fun and super panoramic route, we take you to visit both of these special places by bike, all along secondary roads with 3 offroad sections, each a little more technical than its predecessor. We will even cross the "Bosco delle streghe" or "Witches' Woods", but have no fear, none of the offroad sections are dangerous or beyond a beginner level. If you want to have a go at mountainbiking while enjoying and visiting some of Lake Como's wonders, then this is the tour for you!
