Located on the east coast of Belize at the mouth of the Belize River, Belize City sits on a peninsula jutting into the Caribbean Sea. As the nation's main port, the city is a hub for cruise ships and is often a jumping-off spot for excursions to other parts of Belize, including the Cayo District's caves and Maya archaeological sites along the Macal and Belize rivers. Belize City boasts the only manual swing bridge in the world and the oldest Anglican cathedral in Central America.

Our tour guide Paul notified us in advance to his arrival. Our Airbnb address was incorrect but he was still able to locate our lodging . Our guide Paul was extremely personable, relatable, knowledgeable about historical and contemporary facts about Belize and provided us with exemplary service and an unforgettable experience. During the drive he pointed out local landmarks, historical sites, answered our endless assortment of questions and brought us up to speed on contemporary matters pertaining to the country. When we arrived at Xuantunich Paul took us to each of structure offering insight as to its significance and purpose. He also assisted us with taking photos and answering any questions that we had on the archaeological site. Cave tubing was extremely fun and Paul ensured that we were safe, having a good time as well as gave us a history lesson on caves in Belize and how they related to the ancient Mayan civilization. After tubing my sister and I enjoyed a beverage we purchased from a local vendor who placed rum, coconut milk, fresh juice and melon into a half pineapple. Paul was kind enough to let us stop at a grocery store within close proximity to our AirBnb. He also provided us with restaurant recommendations and familiarized us with the general area that we stayed in. Private Belize Adventure provided an excellent tour and an overall amazing experience. Please request Paul as he will certainly show you a great time along with educating you.

So much to say about our favorite day. David was referred to us by my sister who loved their tour. They couldn't say enough about David. We had the pleasure of having Oscar as our guide. Amber also with us as she was a super facilitator of our day. Oscar was very knowledgable and knew everything about everything. He was easy to talk to and was extra helpful in our extra needs. They were both mindful of our travel contraints and were accommodating. Lunch was super yummy which is their family business. The zoo was so much fun. Oscar knew so much about the history of the animals and park. The cave tubing was the best. We were able to explore behind the scenes and do some extra swimming. The day was perfect. I hope to send plenty more people back to them. Best day ever...

David was great! We saw Altun Ha ruins followed by cave tubing. We beat the main groups of tours to the ruins, which was awesome. We have a photo without anyone else in it! For the cave tubing portion, everyone else we saw was carrying their own tubes on the hike to the river, but we didn't have to carry ours. Lunch was at David and his wife's own restaurant, and the food was phenomenal. Strongly recommend this tour group/company, as it was completely private to our little group of four, and while we saw touristy type sites, it felt like with David, we got to see and experience a bit of true Belize still as well. Only note is that it was a bit unclear how to find him upon arrival in the cruise port/terminal. It turned out that we had to exit through Terminal 1, though I don't know if that is always the one they meet you outside of. Once we got that figured out, everything was very easy and smooth sailing!

This was such a great tour! They picked us up from the hotel promptly. The drive felt so short to the site because there was lot to see on the way. Our guide was great, he gave us alot of information and led us safetly up the structures. Sometimes slowly because they're definitely tall! The tour in total was roughly 3 hours which gave us alot of time in the day to go see other parts of Belize.

From start to finish this was a great tour. I think each tour would vary depending on the type of crowd you get, but in my experience this is defintely more for partiers and drinkers and people who aren't easily offended. Probably not kid freindly either. But if you are like my group and you like to drink, dance and get a little wild then this is totally for you. It was a nonstop blast. On top of all the fun they are very informative and friendly. The Rum punch and shots were free flowing. Never was there an empty cup. Kristie was a great host/bar tender. And "C" Cardinal was on point playing DJ/Host. They were very accomadating of all requets anyon had. We would totally book this tour again and reccomend anyone who wants to have a good time to do this!!

My friend and I spent the whole morning on Caye Caulker trying to locate someone to take us out here. “Richard” used to be the guy, but he left the island a few months ago. After a some dead ends we finally found a guy who was willing to take us for $75 BZ each. My friend and I enjoyed seeing the park (banana spiders, 2 crocodiles, lizards, and a hermit crab), but there has been minimal up-keep of the boardwalks and docks in the past year. A lot of rotten boards made the safety of our little adventure pretty questionable. I’m glad we were able to find someone to take us, but I suspect the safety of the park will continue to decline.
The guides will take you on a city tour before arriving to the main site. They will give you an insight of the history, stories, architecture, current events and living of the City and of the Mayans.

We talked with Jason on the pier and decided to tour the city and visit the ruins. "Jungle Jim" was our tour guide and driver of the air conditioned van. His historical knowledge as well as understanding of everyday little things that peek tourist interest was AMAZING! We even stopped at a rum distillery and got a sample! "Jungle Jim" stopped several times for us to make photos of things of interest.. . Such as an iguana on a fence . So happy we talked with Jason at the pier! This was the best excursion we have ever taken. Hope to get to go back to Beleze one day and take another excursion with "Jungle Jim"!

This is a very fun activity, however be sure you are booking with a good company. Using tripadvisor we booked our trip using 5 Star Tours and paid $75 each. When we arrived in Belize and met up with 5 Star Tours it appeared we were the only two who booked, so they put us with another company called Butts Up. Found out Butts Up charged their customers $35 each. We took a very comfortable bus trip to the cave area. Walked about 200-30 minutes (crossing 3 streams) to get to the tubing area. They gave us helmets and life jackets and assigned us our tubes, ours was 6 roped together. We then went into the cave where our guide pointed out various sights along the way and explained the ancient stories of the caves. When the trip was over we carried our tubes back to the beginning, a much shorter way. Other companies had to carry their tubes both in and out. Having proper foot wear is key to having a good time or dealing with blisters!! AND, Go with Butts Up.
