Things to do in Bardolino, Veneto: The Best Bus Tours

March 10, 2022 Jana Sager

You’ll find vineyards and olive groves in Bardolino, as well as beaches on beautiful Lake Garda. This town isn’t as popular as other area resort towns, so you shouldn’t find huge crowds here (except perhaps during the local olive oil and wine festival in late September and October). If you’re traveling with kids, make a beeline for the Gardaland and Aqua Paradise amusement parks.

I booked this tour for me and my husband on a whim just to give us something to do for the weekend...and it was an excellent decision! Our guide Cristina responded to us within an hour to inquire about our food preferences and to also ensure that we didn’t have any allergies which we found to be very helpful and thoughtful. Once we met up at the designated time, she was very informative about each place we went to and she showed us some different restaurants that we may not have ventured into had we visited Verona on our own. At each place, she asked us if we wanted photos and let us take our time to marvel at everything after explaining the history behind it. We even got to see the arena which was sooo beautiful in person. If you want a tour guide that is going to show you more than just the typical tourists routes, book with Cristina. She made our experience worthwhile.

We were two couples who planned to spend the day riding the trikes visiting different wineries and exploring the Bardolino wine trails. When we arrived at the gas station and saw the amazing trikes I noticed they were stick shift, not automatic. My fault, little girl who learned to drive in my parent's car, automatic. We were going to take two trikes, but only one of us knew how to drive a stick. The operator was prepared to refund all our money immediately, but we were all so saddened by the turn of events. As a means of pleasing us, he made a wonderful suggestion. He asked if we could come back in an hour, when his partner returned. They would then take us on a two hour tour through the mountains and along the lake. We all agreed and returned after a brief stroll through Bardolino for a light lunch. We never would have found the areas, roads and views we were treated to, had we driven ourselves. The trikes are great fun. If you know how to drive stick, or more accurately, a motorcycle, go for doing it, yourself. If not, I strongly suggest you do this for the two hour tour, as passengers. I took a live video at one point, but it's on a different social media. I will try to upload it or send it to the operator. Great fun!!!

With its strong performance, low center of gravity, ultra wide tires, shiny chrome, and rims that you cannot see every day, the trike show at first glance that it is made for fun. I would give a 0 star rating if I could. I booked the Cosmopolitan Milan excursion through Tui who use Europlan. I got to where I needed to be for the coach, we were supposed to leave at 9:15 so I arrived five minutes early. I waited until 9:30 and the only person to stop for the whole time was a taxi that said Sirmione on the side, the driver said something in Italian, presumably asking if I'd ordered a taxi? and drove off. If that was it he was gone, but I was expecting a proper coach for a 'coach trip', not a questionable looking taxi cab with a driver who can't even speak English! On an English speaking tour! I texted the Tui rep who, as it turned out, was in the building just next door so he came out to speak to me. He got on the phone with Europlan and told then I was where I needed to be, and on time. He could only say he did not know how but I have missed the coach and they can't come back for me. I had planned my holiday around this excursion, I have two more booked with Tui before I go home (also with Europlan) and this has thrown out my faith in you!!
