Things to do in Barcelona, Catalonia: The Best Monuments & Statues

August 1, 2021 Mikaela Didonna

Barcelona feels a bit surreal – appropriate, since Salvador Dali spent time here and Spanish Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí designed several of the city’s buildings. Stepping into Gaudí’s Church of the Sacred Family is a bit like falling through the looking glass - a journey that you can continue with a visit to Park Güell. Sip sangria at a sidewalk café in Las Ramblas while watching flamboyant street performers, then create your own moveable feast by floating from tapas bar to tapas bar.

Strolling through the park we happened upon this after visiting the Catalonian Parliament building. The sculpture is just lovely. Spend a while taking in the form.

Cascada Monumental

Reviewed By Margo7850p

The Cascada Monumental is a breathtaking waterfall located inside of the huge Ciutadella Park. The Cascada is located at the northern corner of the park opposite to the lake. It was erected by Josep Fontsére and to a small extent by Antoni Gaudí, who at that time was still an unknown student of architecture. Beautiful tiered fountain rolling at the base of Venus statue. One of the most impressive attractions in Barcelona. Beautiful. Must see.

Built for the 1888 Barcelona World Fair, and still standing proudly over the wide central promenade of the Passeig de Lluís Companys, leading to the Ciutadella Park that now occupies the site of the world fair. The craftsmanship of the arch, street lights and the other artwork is magnificent.
