Things to do in Bali, Indonesia: The Best Forests

July 22, 2021 Vergie Nakamoto

Bali is a living postcard, an Indonesian paradise that feels like a fantasy. Soak up the sun on a stretch of fine white sand, or commune with the tropical creatures as you dive along coral ridges or the colorful wreck of a WWII war ship. On shore, the lush jungle shelters stone temples and mischievous monkeys. The “artistic capital” of Ubud is the perfect place to see a cultural dance performance, take a batik or silver-smithing workshop, or invigorate your mind and body in a yoga class.

The Sangeh Monkey Forest is a little out of the way for most foreign tourists which is truely a shame. This place is just amazing, the tall trees, friendly monkeys, picturesque settings, helpful guides and if your lucky the just married couples having photos. Grab yourself a guide and wander around, the guide will tell you about the forest, the monkeys and answer any questions. They will also be there if the monkeys get to inquisitive. The forest is quite different to the one in Ubud it is much easier to get around if you are less nimble with most if the grounds being flat and paved. Enjoy the tranquility and take your time.
