Long Island

An island in the Bahamas best known for its shark feeding dives.

An amazing island; completely free of typical "tourist scene." If you love nature, this is the place to go. We would definitely go again. Tip for getting there and away: Learn from our mistake, DO NOT FLY SOUTHERNAIR CHARTER. Either use BahamasAir out of Stella Maris airport or pay for your own private charter. SouthernAir Charter cancels their flights and this is apparently a "known" thing. We didn't know this unfortunately. They canceled our return flight because they didn't sell enough tickets. As a result, we lost our last day of vacation as well as the money we'd paid for our rental house, and what should have been one 10-hour travel day home, was turned into two days of travel home with a nearly 24-hr stay on Nassau (a place we never wanted to go).

James was a great host for a day on the water! Feeding his pigs and other animals on Currie Sound Cay was such a treat. We spotted loads of sea turtles, found a huge starfish, learned some cool history and shared a delicious lunch of cracked conch, seafood critters and mahi (and 10-12 french fries ;) For sure a highlight of our trip and we will definitely be back for another excursion!

We are cruisers on a sailing vessel and really enjoy our time in Matthew Town. The people are so friendly and will help with anything. Two favorite places are Anyee Bread and Lighthouse Grill. Anyee’s bread and cinnamon rolls are delicious and if u call Richard at 242 453 0300 on what’s app he will deliver bread to your doorstep! If you don’t have transportation to the Lighthouse Grill call Jason +1 (242) 809-6642 and he will pick you up!! We also enjoyed snorkeling in the area, a tour of Morton Salt, and tour to see the flamingos!! It is a true Bahamian experience.

Left Bimini and stopped at Chub Cay with our trawler. What a beautiful new marina with first class service. One of the wonderful people we met was the bartender at the beach bar named "Portia" who was a delight and made fantastic drinks. Your staff is excellent and "Portia" made our afternoon very special.

This is a beautiful island! Quiet, relaxing, peaceful place to rest and refresh with gorgeous beaches, wonderful boating, and great snorkeling. Its very safe and the islanders are very friendly and helpful! We went with two other couples and rented a fantastic house ,named Watch Hill, right on the beach! We also rented a boat and golf carts from Dive Guana. We all agreed Great Guana Cay is one of the prettiest places we’ve ever visited! We would definitely go back again!
